    Yep, again.

Sniping condescendingly at small town America.

Hope the resident pukes can defend him.

I always wanted to be a resident puke. I am not a Mr Obama fan, nor am I a Hillary fan. I will hold my nose and support the Republican, just hoping he dies before he can do too much damage and also believing he will NOT PUT A LIBERAL on the Supreme Court.

That said, you need to put a candidates words into context and not edit for convenience. “Our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate and they have not. “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

I am not a fan of his politics but I am not a fan of bushwacking either. You need to look at the audience he was speaking to and consider the real truths in the totality of what he said. Lots and lots of places in PA were prosperous before the steel industry left town. All that is left is a shell. If you ever spent some time in PA and actually spent some time with the locals, you just might agree with what the guy said.

Hmm, it's not the substance of what he says that rubs me wrong. (Although there's precious little substance in anything he says). But he seems pretty damn arrogant to me, try as he will to hide it, it sometimes shows. Try watching him on TV and turn off the audio and watch his facial expressions and body language. See if you agree.

bgf, I already stated that my politics are not the same as any of the current crop of presidential candidates. I love guns, I hate abortions, I do not believe in a progressive supreme court, I do not believe in the redistribution of wealth, I do not want to see anyone like obama elected to the presidency of the United States. I simply stated the obvious, taken in context, the guy was right. There is a section of America that just has not figured out that good jobs are not coming back to their neck of the woods. There is another section of America that has not yet figured out that you need to apply yourself and get higher education to succeed. There is a huge voting block who want to believe feel good bs and will vote for anyone with a promise. But I won't go after obama or anyone else on a convenient sound bite.

looks like they were in concept or maybe contempt. seems like some think the government can create jobs when they only, by their beauracracy, eliminate many.

Too bad he can't figure out why the "anti-trade" sentiment is there.

Could it have to do with your job going to the other side of the world, and the goods being forced down your throat at the same prices you paid when you made them?

Condescencion does not make friends. That's all I have to say.

If you read the text of his stump speach he almost says nothing. This time I think you are getting a real peek into what kind of a personality he has (very elete aditude) I have noticed that instead of moving the troops out as soon as he gets in office he has CHANGED that to 14 or 16 months depening on the day.

His supporters are the very rich socialist extremist and the nieve.

The fact is most Politicians will say whatever it takes to get your vote, once they got it they forget everything they said to get it or say that what they said was misunderstood and that they never mean't that (Example, Hillary under fire) ... The facts are as stated and that includes Obama, Hillary, and the Democrap in a Republican suit John McCain ... We are in deep manure and its only going to get deeper before its all over ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Gary Waalkes I think you grasp the problem at the same level that Obama does, not at all. You said "I simply stated the obvious, taken in context, the guy was right. There is a section of America that just has not figured out that good jobs are not coming back to their neck of the woods. There is another section of America that has not yet figured out that you need to apply yourself and get higher education to succeed."

I feel that you and perhaps Osama Obama have missed the point in his statement he said. “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” the seventh word in that statement sums it up "BITTER" yes they may well be but with the attitude's of his party and all of his fellow Lib's who can blame them?

He also says cling to all of these other things. He is correct as most Americans feel they had a right to a job that his kind sold to the rest of the world but not to their own countrymen. "Most cling to guns, religion ,or antipathy to people who aren't like them" because they see those things going the same way as the Jobs. He says anti-immigrant, anti-trade "SENTIMENT" is that what it is "SENTIMENT"? Sorry I don't see it as "SENTIENT". I have know for most of my adult life the meaning of "ILLEGAL" so what part of that word does Obama not understand(with all of his fine education)he doesn't seem to grasp the basic concept that illegal acts no matter what they are come with punishment. When he and those of his beliefs dismiss these illegal acts as trivial and support the perpetrators. Please tell me why in the Hell would anyone not be "BITTER"

In some states if you have a misdemeanor on your record they hold up your right to own a gun while they dig around in your background trying to find something else to block ownership. Yet when Jose comes across the border illegally that is alright he is just looking to better his life. Ya Right no reason to be "BITTER"

You said "There is another section of America that has not yet figured out that you need to apply yourself and get higher education to succeed." I have a question about that. If you are in your late 50's to early 60's and the company you work for down sizes and sends your job over seas. Should one be expected to get a higher education to last you the last few years of your working life????????????? I was taught a long time ago "You Reap What You Sough" Ya he is right we should let them $^%# all over us and Thank you kindly.

I think that Obama has not figured out that there is a section of America that has figured out he is becoming a pain in the backside of this country. It seems like his kind only get what they think they can swing they never seem to understand that you can only kick people while they are down for so long and the Do-Do hits the fan.

WPT hit it on the head. It is "politician or party before country". In the past it was near treason to criticize your country's goals especially during war. Now it happens on a regular basis. Remember how unified we were after 911?
Now it is an excuse to blame, and many politicians memories of how they voted to act, have suddenly gone amiss.

I personaly would never ever vote for him, but I believe that what he said is true. Every politico for the last 25 or more years has promised to fix those problems and we all know that never have and they could care less once they are elected. I lived in Pa when it was good but I got an education and left. Those people like me who got a good job and worked
for 15 or 20 years were left in the lurch. Does this sound familiar??

Barack Obama showed his deft political touch today, and demonstrated his keen insight into the lives of the little people in this country, with a speech that is sure to be worth at least thirty points in Pennsylvania in the upcoming primary:
    ___________________________________________________________
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
    __________________________________________________________________________

I asked around the area, to see how his obvious compassion for Pennsylvanians was viewed. This is just one story, from one man in West Deer Township, but I'm sure that it's typical:
    __________________________________________________________________________
"By cracky, it's like the man sees into my very soul!

"Thirty years ago, I had a good job in the mill in Pittsburgh. I was bringing in a good income, going to jazz clubs, discussing Proust over white wine and brie, with my gay friends of all colors. I was all for free trade, so that we could sell the steel overseas, and I never bothered to go to church, let alone actually believe in God.

"But then, the plant closed down, and I couldn't get another job. I went on unemployment, and found odd jobs here and there, but they barely paid the rent on the loft, and the payment on the Bimmer. I couldn't afford the wine and brie any more, and had to shift over to beer and brats.

"Of course, as a result, I started hanging out with the wrong crowd--the beer drinkers.

"And it wasn't just the beer. Some of them actually went out in the woods in the fall, and shot animals. And kilt 'em. With real guns!

"I was shocked, of course. For all their diversity, none of my gay friends would have ever thought of doing anything like that. But with my job loss, and lack of money for pedicures and pommade, they didn't want to hang with me any more. So I borried a twelve gauge over'n'under, and went out with my new beer-drinking animal-killing friends in the woods. And I'll tell you what, when I shot down that eight-pointer, I felt a sense of power over the helpless in a way that I hadn't since I'd been looking down on the rednecks when I had that good job in Pittsburgh, driving around town in my 528i.

"But somehow the killing, and hating those two-timing nancy boys wasn't enough. I was still in despair. I started to search for answers, and I thought that I found them in Jesus. It started small, just church on Sunday, with prayers and a lecture from the preacher.

"But it didn't stop there. Soon I was attending Wednesday night revivals, and huzzahing and hossanahing, and babbling with the best of them. After a few months I'd graduated to juggling garter snakes, then rattlers.

"But it wasn't enough. Despite all the gun caressing, and animal killing, and hatred of people who weren't like me, and anger at the Colombians who were...doing something to me--I'm not entirely sure what, and the tongue speaking and snake handling, I still couldn't find a job.

"My social life continued to deteriorate. Not only was I no longer interested in those sensitive swishes, or literature, but I was starting to look with lust at my sister. And not just look, I'll tell you what. She'd been out of work, too, and was getting mighty interested, if you know what I mean.

    "I have hit rock bottom.

"Please, help me, O Bama. Forgive me, O Bama. O Bama, my Bama, rescue me from this living hell in which Reagan, and Bush, and Clinton, and Bush, have consigned me. Restore unto me my loft and my teutonic status symbol. Give me back my poofter friends, and my pinot grigio and my baked gruyere, and lattes. Save me from the killing and the beer, and most of all, from Jesus. Save me, O my Bama, and I will commit my vote unto you.
    ___________________________________________________________
This is just one story of the many lives that Barack Obama has touched, and blessed, this day in the benighted Keystone State. But with his obvious compassion, and ability to feel the pain of others so unlike him, he is sure to carry the state in a couple weeks."

I recently heard there was a little more astir than just what Hussein said at this last speech.

Apparently quite a few blacks showed for this event, and got themselves seated up front, in view of the cameras. Hussein's campaign figured this wasn't going to look to good for their black candidate, so they pushed all of the black folks to the back of the seating chart to allow the whitey's a seat up front, for the camera.

Some of the black attendees put up a stink, asking why their black candidate is pushing them "to the back of the bus".

I did watch part of his speech and all I saw were whites.....hhmmmmmmmm.

I will dig around to find a few links.
