The White House has released the transcript of President Obama’s recent speech in Roanoke, Virginia, and it holds a number of noteworthy statements. ...

    The official transcript relates:

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there."

This is from one of his leftist cronies, he is regurgitating some stuff she said months ago.

I think is the same idiot that got caught lying about being a native American to get her professorship at some Liberal college, Elizabeth Warren.

This is her all over. Saying no one in this country can really be a success on their own, because government built the roads and provided services that enabled the successful people to make it...............they seem to forget they collected taxes from people and businesses that built the roads and provided the services.

Marxism 101, "it's not your money," mantra.

We are supposed to respect these people who think like this, just because they were successful in getting elected in public office???????

Whenever he gets away from his telepromter, he messes up and actually SAYS what he really thinks! Of course he "HATES" private Buisness(after all he is a SOCIALIST)! It is really humorous to see the liberal talking heads trying to spin this into something else and saying that wasn't what he meant--What a JOKE! Only those with their heads up Obama's butt would try and convience themselves it was anything else that what it was!

What I find amazing is the number of people who deny he is a socialist.

I guess they don't want to believe it or can't, or don't want to think they were so easily fooled.

Most people carry on the traditions, culture, values and thoughts they were raised with, imparted by their parents.

What would be your guess about BHO, having mother and father, both avowed communists????

    --------------------------

He might of really stepped in it this time, does not seem to be going away.

This and the soundbite about the private sector doing fine, will be played non stop as the election gets closer.

I dislike Obama as much as anyone on here, but I really don't see the problem with this particular comment... Perhaps the context of the speech would help me to understand (the link just shows the one quote for me).

Everyone has been given help in their life, whether it's from a parent, grandparent, friend, teacher, whomever. Saying that they had help doesn't take away from their individual accomplishments. Successful businessmen always seem to talk about their "network" of contacts that they have built -- if that "network" didn't help them, it sure as H*** wouldn't exist or have such importance. Of course, you have to provide help as well in order to keep getting help... You can call it "win-win" or "giving back" or whatever you want, but that's part of the equation for success. Of course there's a huge difference between choosing to give back and being forced to give back.

I aslo don't see how you could believe that being smart and/or hard-working guarantees success. There have been plenty of examples of people with great ideas and the work ethic to put their ideas in motion ending in miserable failure. Tucker Corporation for one...

Dan I guess it's the fact that he has never held a public sector job or signed the front side of a paycheck to an employee

He has no idea how it's done

And just a week or two ago he announced that the public sector is doing fine

    He is clueless

The reason people take offense, is because the remarks are insulting.

People who start a business, put 80 hrs a week into it, sometimes for-go a paycheck for themselves so that the help is paid, the vendors are paid, the utilities paid, the second and first mortagages are paid on the home.

There kids sometimes don't get the things they want, because there is no money and they have to look forward to eating beans and franks for 3 days a week.

No summer vacation trips, the family car is 10 years old, the TV works sometimes and the washing machine needs to be replaced, but there no money for it in the budget.

Dad works a night job to bring in some extra money, but does not have time to go to the kids recitials, little league games or take them to the beach.

In the meantime the city, county and state want their sales, property and income taxes. You have to contend with the Fed on all kinds issues, such as OSHA, EEC, EPA, IRS and agencies you never heard of.

So when these Commie bastards like Obama and Warren say you did not create that small business and put hard work in it, stay smarter than those out to destroy you, it is very insulting.

Obama is nothing more than a rabble rousing Chicago street thug, who up until the time he got elected, never drew a paycheck. He never met a payroll, started or managed a business.

The Defense Dept may have created the Internet, but it took Steve Jobs and Bill Gates to make it accessible with the PC. The government may have built the roads and bridges, but it was Henry Ford and his affordable car that created the need for roads and bridges.

This speech is an insult to every business owner in the United States.

Both Obama and Elizabeth Warren are what are produced when the affirmative-action system is gamed for self-benefit.

Think about it. When have all the really substantial increases in the size of government been achieved? In times of great national economic hardship. During the eras when things were running well, American voters turned back the more aggressive sort of liberalism at every turn.

This is why in times of prosperity, if you read the liberal opinion pieces, websites, and blogs, the common recurring theme is: Why Won't Americans Vote Their Economic Interest? In the liberals' view, they are offering middle class voters economic benefits of irresistible value, and can't understand why they won't accept the handout.

Liberals have figured out that no real advancement of their cause can occur when Americans are prosperous and hopeful. When people are living in big houses, have jobs, and are driving big pickup trucks and taking vacations, forget about it. Democrats have to run as "Moderates" (like Bill Clinton) to get or stay elected during those times. Americans must be down and out, to give real naked Liberalism a second look.

If you are liberal, and want to force your views on others and advance your cause at the ballot box (critical distinction), prosperity is your enemy. You need adversity.

But adversity may only be your friend for so long...as Hillary may find out in 2016. Sooner or later, Americans will figure out - liberal America sucks, "I want to get back to being fat and happy again!" If Obama gets reelected and keeps this up, he could be responsible for putting Democrats out of power for a generation. You so-called yaller-dog "Moderate Democrats" take note...Obama is destroying you.

All this Elizabeth-Warren-inspired Class Warfare stuff is aimed at turning the Democrat party into the same sort of radicalized ideological cabal the Republican party is accused of being. If Obama gets his way...sooner or later, the GOP (with Tea Party insurgents included) will look like a nice, moderate alternative to all of this.

Young people don't like not having a future. What happens when they want to get back to having jobs and getting our house in order? What will the Class-Warfare crowd have to offer, then? Just as "Feminism" is no longer a rallying cry for young women (because the benefits of the movement are taken for granted, as liberals now bemoan), sooner or later, the benefits of social value liberalization will be taken for granted, as well. Young people will no longer remember who Jerry Falwell was, nor feel particularly threatened by him.

    But they'll still want jobs.
