    I would have to say that the trap was a fake one or a trap that they heated the springs so it lost all their strength. If he used a real trap he would have lost his arm. The real bear trap is nothing to play with.

    I may be wrong but my experience has been that if you don't set the springs straight out it will slow the closing of the trap. It would still hurt but wouldn't close with full force. Jackie B.
