The lynchpin of Obama’s tax plan is an income level of $250,000. According to Obama, everyone earning less than $250,000 will receive a tax rebate (in some form) while those earning $250,000 or more will get a tax increase. It’s almost a no-brainer that most of the 95% majority will be “happy” while the 5% minority will be “sad”.

Obama rationalizes this scheme as “spreading the wealth”.

If this is such a good idea and it is implemented, who is to say that the $250,000 peg could not be lowered to $100,000 or less. After all, if you are at the poverty level, an income level of $100,000 probably appears very high.

My question is what will round 2 or round 3 of “spread the wealth” look like?

What makes you think the WEALTH will be spread in this country ? His plan is to spread your money to other countrys and not the U.S.

What a hapless ploy. Getting into office by pandering to the very large block of votes from the "have not" segment of our society.

Big Government can not operate very smoothly without money. It can only come from 2 places. They can print (borrow) via bond and note auctions, thus thinning out the pool of dollars even more, or they can take it from those who have.

I see way too many Obama signs around here, and can only believe the Kool-Aid is so addictive the truth is obscured.

Lots of people want to show how progressive they are by voting for the first black candidate. And he isn't even black.

"stupid is as stupid does". (Forrest Gump)

Ed, picture standing in line at the snack shop counter and when you reach for your wallet, you find Obama, hand taking what little you have and passing it back!

Let's say Obama could wave a magic wand and make everyone in the USA have exactly the same amount of money. I'll bet that within a year or two that there
would be rich and poor again. Further more, it would be the same ones who were rich and same ones who were poor to begin with. Spreading the wealth is a socialist dream that, if they thought it out, they would realize is futile.
Besides, if everyone is a millionaire, well that's a whole other problem.
    Who does the work?

There is no way he can raise the kind of money he is talking about for new government spending by only taking from those making over 250,000 dollars a year. For one I thing he already mentioned getting rid of the Bush tax cuts. Those tax cuts took my wife and I from owing money to the government after withholdings, to getting money back after withholdings. And I am far from wealthy. I am considered lower middle class. His promise of national health care will have to be provided from another payroll tax like social security and Medicare taken out every paycheck from everyone that works. Democrats have talked about a tax on tax free retirement savings. You can't make the changes he is talking about by not going after the middle class. Why do you think so many millionaires are sending him their money now to get him elected. He has twice as much money as McCain. But you don't say the truth until after you are elected.

Everyone's taxes will go up,,,he has said the first thing he'll do is repeal the bush tax cuts,,that includes every tax payer, we'll all pay more,,then he'll send that 40% of the useless bums that don't work a welfare check,,and to get that money he'll raise taxes on those making 250k or more,,,the tax cut he says he'll give to the others will be dogged out for probably 2 1/2 to 3 years,,then before the next election he can say see I cut your taxes,,,

Thats just my take on how the liar will keep the bums happy to vote for him again,,

There's going to be one hell of a lot of people that vote for Obama that are going to be very sorry they did. Unfortunately us McCain supporters/voters are going to have to suffer right along side of them. Makes me sick that so many Americans cannot or will not see through that liar. What little bit I have for my retirement is not going to survive Obama. People also have not listened very carefully to him when he said he wants to give to the rest of the world to save them from poverty. Who do you think is going to pay for that? Rich CEO's etc. Not on your life.

It's simple. From now on I'm making less than $250,000 a year.

According to what Obama has stated, he wants to return to the tax rates under Bill Clinton. The highest rate was 39.6%. He also stated that he wants to remove the cap from the FICA tax (6.2% and matched by the employer. If one is self employed it's 12.4%. Yes, they're just lucky) The Medicare tax 2.9% goes to infinity.

Take a sports personality as an example. He makes $1 million more in the 39.6 threshhold. He signed a personal services contract so he is self employed. His taxes are 39.6% Fed income tax, 15.3% FICA Medicare and he lives in a high tax state, say CA. another 9.3%. Looks to me he keeps less than 40% of his income and that doesn't consider any local taxes. How many of this boards liberals would work if they got to keep less than 40%. I bet it would be a round number....

If the have-nots are a majority and vote, what is the surprise? Did you want some other outcome? In a participatory democracy?

Spreading wealth is the natural result of all legislation, national or local.

Hoarding wealth is the natural result of doing nothing. Even McCain does not want that.

So explain to America why spreading the wealth is bad.

I would rather spread my own wealth by spending it than have the government steal it from me to give to the deadbeats. At least that way I will have something tangible after the transaction.

Why wait for the election to spread the wealth. Go to the nearest wealthy neighborhood and take their stuff. I wonder if Obama, Kerry, Biden, Kennedy, ... (pick your favorite wealthy Democrat) have opened up their estates yet. I remember watching Doctor Zhivago. As a poor person you simply have to pick your favorite rich man's house, judging by the Senate and Hollywood usually a Democrat, then move in with your buddies. Socialism can be fun.

OIC, BOC and High...You three are voting for Palin/McCain.

McCain was one of the first to urge the $700,000,000,000 USD bail out to wall street. (He voted for it twice.)

That legislation is the single, biggest example of spreading the wealth this year. Both political parties supported it.

If you really don't get it, and want to do nothing, start your own party.

We frown upon the rich politician who buys votes using his OWN money but support the one who buys votes using taxpayers' money. Is the American voter really that stupid?

Charles, send me $14,000 of your wealth so I can buy a K80 Trap Special. You worked for it, sacrificed your time and effort....I want it. That should make it fair.

If you truly support "spreading the wealth", pm me and I will send you my address to send my check to....or are you spreading something else???

Can someone tell me how many there are who make $250K+ per year? Just like to put a number based on his promises of how much each will pay on average...
