Which is the best? Which one has the best warranty?

I am looking for a 50" big screen but don't really know which one is the best.

I don't want to buy a piece of crap. How are the Vizeo's at Walmart compared to LG's or Samsungs? I know Samsung's are expensive but are they really worth it?

I appreciate all the help I can get!

    Thank you!

    Chris

We bought a Samsung 42 inch plasma and it's picture quality is great! I window shopped several stores looking for clarity first before buying. Hap

Plazma TVs burn prodigous amounts of electricity. If you want to keep AlGore happy, don't go there.

LCD will do you the best. It will not run up your electric bill like the plasma will.It will also last longer.

My favorites are always LCD screens. The best of the bunch is the Sony Bravia XBR series. The brand new line of Sharp Aquos LCDs is also stunning. If you decide to buy one, go online to Sharp and pick CURRENT the model you want. Then try to find one at the store. DO NOT go to Circuit City and the like, because they have the older model that you_do_no_want.

Samsung makes a good product, but for the price I'd rather pay a little more and get the best.

LG makes some fine products at a low price, and they make some outright junk. It's a gamble unless you know what you are doing.

I am never going to buy a plasma, because they are not bright enough in daytime, and I routinely fall asleep watching TV. The do still burn in, even though they are much better about that than previously.

    Forget plasma or LCD.
DLP is THE BEST way to go.

    Anonymous, you asshole -

LG products are made in China.

**LG Electronics China Holding Company was founded in 1995. The company currently manages 13 production facilities and 5 subsidiaries all around China, with a primary focus on telecommunications, home appliances, and IT. In 2006, the company recorded 9 billion dollars sales profit with 85% of that coming from exports and 15% for domestic consumption.
The head office for the China region is located in Beijing. The company currently houses 38,000 employees region-wide**

Why are you neocons such ignorant slime bags?

Plasma is cheaper for larger screens, but has burn in and fan that makes noise. Good in dark rooms.
LCD has no burn in, and is better in bright light.
    LCD has better picture quality.

    Chris:

The December 2007 Consumer Reports magazine (CR) includes lots of information about larger screen TVs including plasma, LCD, and rear projection. It lists the pros and cons of each type and gives recommendations for specific brands and models to consider.

Anonymous Stud will be pleased to hear that CR explains the basis for its recommendations which in effect defines "best".

With all due respect to the TS.com resident authorities, some of what is written in prior posts is NOT consistent with CR's experience/recommendations.

I just bought a Samsung LNT 4671F from Amazon, just started it up with HD box etc. some problem with the pic. (weird static etc.) called Amazon and they are going to replace it by delivering another and taking back the defective set, all apologetic too, I can't say I'd get that type of service from Best Buy or Circuit city......I'll follow up with the final results.....Amazon was a LOT cheaper than the big chains....

When comparing prices between stores just make sure you are comparing the exact same model numbers. For example there are about 5 or 6 current 46 inch Sony LCD models for sale, some stores carry one model and some another. There are 3000v, 3000s, 3000w, several xbr's, 2500v, 2500s, etc, each a little different with the xbr's being the latest and greatest (and most expensive). Some brands are a lot better than others (you can go online and check out ratings). You might get lost comparing options (like 2 hdmi ports versus 3, or 8000 to 1 contrast versus 12,000 to 1). Good luck.
