I never met a pie I didn't like.
I'm not sure I have a favorite.
One pie I do miss, though, is my mom's green tomato pie. She'd round up all the green tomatos from the garden in mid-November that had no chance of ripening, and would make green tomato pie for my birthday. Sounds awful, but it's actually pretty good, like a raisin and mince pie. She's getting on in years, so I haven't had one in a long time.

    All pies are good.

Brian, too bad you did not acquire the recipe. After my mom died I realized that none of us (all 8 of her children) had her sour cream green apple pie recipe. Never could make one like hers.

Black bottom pie is my current favorite. My bride of 30 years introduced me to that one.

I'm pretty picky about pie. It has to be hot or cold, one crust or two, fruit or cream. Not just any old pie for me!

edgarmcm, could you possibly post the recipe for that raisin pie?

You see, I'm in the same boat as tachyon. My Mother made the best pies, and I have been able to duplicate all of her recipe's except for the raisin pie.

I see you have been married for 47 years, so your lovely bride might make raisin pie the same way my Mom did, who has been gone now for 21 years.

No need to put a recipe for the crust here, as we can make a really great crust using real lard, if you know what I mean.

But I would appreciate it if you could print the recipe here. If you'd rather not, that is okay too. Thanks!

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! Hauxfan!

My Mother in Law makes the very best apple pie. She uses a crumble top crust. She must really love me because she made one today for my birthday.

    Thanks Mom.

    bcnu,
If you are ever around Omaha in the spring give me a hollar. We grow lots of rhubarb and it would be a great excuse to make another rhubarb pie. We also make rhubarb crisp as a nice changeup from the pie each spring.

ummmm frank... in my universe it is approximated by

Perhaps the curved space in your area causes a difference in pi. Of course that would make trapshooting more difficult..
