Well I see where our President, Mr."Change", has raised the cigarette tax by $0.62 a pack($6.20 a carton)to provide money for the health care system!(He's not going to raise taxes, remember!) Now this doesn't effect me directly(I stopped smoking in 1965)but just think of all the different scenarios: this could cause smokers to quit smoking therefore the tobacco companies would go into bankruptcy, the farmers that grow tobacco would go bust, the suppliers, retailers and others connected to the industry would go belly-up, but not to worry, us good old tax-payers will provide bail-out money so all the top executives will still receive their bonuses but there still won't be any money for health care! Of course if everyone stops smoking the health care problems will cease to exist! Well, maybe the $0.62 tax it's a good idea after all!!

It won't be long before we have a thriving black market for cigarettes. That is good because after they legalize drugs the dealers will need something to do.

What really chaps my hide is that all of this, along with "selective" taxation of specific executive salaries, and now Geithner wants "unlimited" abilities to sieze non-bank investment firms......

What this means is that there has now been a prescedent set to allow the government to SELECTIVELY tax as they want, SELECTIVELY take over private business as they want, and SELECTIVELY leavy any income tax they want. Notice my strain on SELECTIVELY.... this is the most scary part about everything happening. There is no due process, there is no endictment... just these certain branches doing what THEY see as the best interest of the counrty.

    God help us all.

You can bet this is all just the beginning. He still has 3 yrs & 9 mos. to do as he pleases. I don't think this will be a country you can recognize by the end of his first term. Hang on for a bumpy ride. Colonel

I saw a sign at a protest that said "Chains we can believe in" -- so true. I'm sorry for all you younger people that are going to have to live with his socialist programs. God help us.

I heard a good comparison of the Democrats policys and a person that was in debt. How does that person get out of debt? he cuts back on his spending. The government believes that person can get out of debt by spending more ?? Am I missing something here ??
