Cable guy see # 3 in my post above.

Wayne survived the Vietnam War in Green Berets.

But I am sure there is one more, I just can't think of the name of it.

Here ya go boys.....guess it takes an old Trooper/Investigator to sort out the truth....

John Wayne died in 8 films for definite, and a further two, depending on how you want to look at it.

    "Central Airport"
    "Reap the Wild Wind"
    "The Fighting Seabees"
    "Wake of the Red Witch"
    "The Sands of Iwo Jima"
    "The Alamo"
    "The Cowboys"
    "The Shootist"

He was already dead at the start of "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", and most of the film is a flashback to when he was alive. It is just stated that he died, but there is no actual death scene.

In "The Sea Chase" it is left to the audience to decide whether or not he died. The romantic among us like to think that he and Lana Turner were able to escape from the sinking ship at the end of the film, but it is not made clear.

What was Bruce Derns part in all of this? I thought he was the only person to have actually shot and killed John Wayne in a movie or something like that?

Bruce Dern was in "The Cowboys". In the "Shootist" it was the bartender who shot JB Books in the back that ultimately killed him at the end of the movie.

What about McQ and Brannigan are you guys fans of his non-westerns?

    spitter...

The metal you eluded to was a gift to Wayne when he was in Vietnam reseaching for the Green Beret movies.

It's a Montagnard life bracelet which once put on cannot be removed....it goes to the grave with the wearer.
