Anybody notice the new Viagra commercial has Howlin' Wolfs' Smokestack Lighting in the background? Willie Dixon and Hubert Sumlin are in this version.

Whoah, Wayne...thanks for the throw back!!! Howlin' Wolf died in my senior year of high school, just before my birthday, I remember. What a loss. He was very cool to watch. Unfortunately, I never got to see him live.

Butterfly pics and Howlin' Wolf...I think you are an alright guy.

Living near St. Louis and being a big blues fan, I've seen a lot of the masters. Guitar, harmonica and keyboard licks heard over and over in Rock and Roll to today.

You should be able to rent it, I think it came out in 2008. It is a very underrated movie especially if you like the music. Here's a clip where Little Walter thought some stole his name so he took care of it. But the movie is mostly music. On second thought maybe this clip is too graphic for this site, I'll post the link instead, they are a bunch of them on youtube.

Wayne, I'll 2nd that. The Howlin' Wolf Story is a classic. Viagra chose Smoke Stack Lightnin", that's deep. LOL. Ahh! Feels like riding through Alabama looking at cotton fields and outhouses. I guess they could have used any number of the Wolf's toons - Built for Comfort, Howlin' for my Darlin, Backdoor Man. The Howlin' Wolf was a bad man and had a bad band. Ya'll like the Wolf huh!

Hey Devi, I haven't seen you in a long time!

Wayne, I ordered the DVD. Thank you. I was looking for some live footage and history.

Silverbullet, after looking at the DVD cover on Cadillac Records, I realized that I did see it before. I am a huge fan of Etta James (the music, but not particularly her personality), and I wanted to see how she was portrayed. I like Beyonce (singing AND personality), but I think IMHO that the better choice would have been to recruit Keishya Cole for the part. She just seems to fit the look and history to me a little more.

I have (I think) every single recording that Etta ever made. My favorite is "Roll With Me Henry", even though her other more popular songs were more vocally sophisticated.

Robert, Martin and I moved permanently to Kansas, that's why you haven't seen me around. We didn't get to travel to shoots on the east coast this last year because the hip that was broken just kept getting worse, finally forcing me to quit and get it replaced. I'm re-habbing as we speak. I'll see you this season, though. Sending love your way until then!
