Our son has a Les Paul Studio that he plays all the time. Unfortunately as well as Gibson builds its guitars, I cannot say the same for the cases it furnishes. The cases are very nice but 2 years after we got it, the lock broke. I sent it back to Gibson and they fixed it for free - after $20-30 in shipping. Now, a couple years later, the handle has broken off. I'm not sending it back this time We're buying a quality case that will protect the guitar and last.

I know there are some guitar players/lovers here. So tell me, who makes the Americase for guitars? Tell me quick - got to get it for Christmas. Thanks to all.

SKB makes decent cases. Musician's Friend is about as cheap as any to buy music gear, however, the handles can be replaced without much trouble. Musicians Friend is on the web and you can look up what they have but it looks to me like if you want a case that will last you could not do better than beaker100's case.

The SKB is what I have for my Les Paul Studio. It's been gigged and the case is really sturdy. I think the case was $80 when I bought it, but it's going for $129 now. Go to Musicians Friend or America Music Supply. AMS has one in their scratch and dent shop for $79.00

    Amazon has one for $99

I never had an original. Quackshot has an original Les Paul Gibson case and 30 years later it's still in great shape, but it wasn't gigged much.

Guys - you are all super.
I went to a local guitar store today and must say for $129 the SKB case may be what we need. And, if I want to go top of line, I'll contact Doug at Colorado case, now that I know he also makes outstanding guitar cases too.
Once again, the TS.COM website comes through.

Just for reference, Americase does make guitar cases, as well a road cases for bands. Our schools sousaphone cases were built by them.

Gene, I would just put another handle on the case you have. Wood cases are good for wood guitars. They don't condensate. There is a guy who sells case handles on ebay. I have bought from him a couple times to replace handles on a couple gibson cases. If you are hell bent on another case. Guitar center/musiciansfriend(same company) is having a sale right now. I was in guitar center Sunday and they have Gibson LP cases for 99 bucks. Hope this helps.

Another vote for the SKB. Fender ships their USA guitars in them as factory cases now, and they're pretty good.

A lot of guitar company OEM cases just aren't very good anymore...it's an easy place to cut costs. I usually set factory cases back in the closet, and use something more substantial for daily traveling. Then get the OEM case back out if you ever sell/trade.
