A friend of ine in NJ is looking to have his late 60's, early 70's, Colt 1911 National Match repaired and he does not trust any of the gunsmiths in his area. Who would be a good gunsmith to replace the front sight? He says it appears to be brazed in and the original is missing.

    Thanks
    John D.

The obvious and most simple answer is to send it back to Colt.

No need to go out of NJ for that. Take it to Phil Cane at Effingers in Bound Brook.
