A friend I work with has asked me if I'm interested in an M1 Carbine being offered through the Civilian Marksmanship Program Sales (CMP). See the link supplied.

Are these reasonable prices for service grade pieces? I understand it's a bit of a crapshoot buying sight unseen, but I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection.

Any M1 Carbine experts out there??

For the collection I can see buying one.I have a Garand,M14 and M16.I have been thinking about the carbine just to have one myself. But,if you are buying it for a shooter take DBBILL's advice.

Compared to the mix master mystery carbines selling for $700, $800, $900 and $1,000 and more for Winchester versions - $450 for a shootable carbine is a bargain.

The biggest drawback to the M-1 Carbine is they are expensive to shoot.
