Yesterday,,,it was about 110 degrees!!! In the open desert under that kind of air temp the heat coming "up" from the desert floor blasts you at about 130 degrees!!!!

Now its going to be that way up until late september,,maybe the first two weeks in October!!! Nothing will be done quickly if at all,,,,I can only hope that activity along inhabited sections of the border will force illegals into the open desert where the dragon awaits.....

I like what carlos mencia said...have illegals build the fence, when they're done get them together...check this side of the fence...take them thru to check the other side of the fence...then shut the gate. Problem solved. heh

The double fence is a great idea. Captured illegals would be used to construct it. They would be paid minimum wage, given barracks like quarters to live in and three squares a day. Upon completion, the illegals would be deported and face a 15 to life prison sentence upon recapture on this side. A mine field would be constructed between the two fences by our trained military. Loudspeakers would be installed broadcasting that there was a minefield and you enter at your own risk. No need to hire expensive contractors to build the fence when we can pay the illegals minimum which is a fortune to them. Mexico doesnt like it ...tough...create a good economy and wages for your people and they wont need to come here illegally. Ed Nichols

Building the fence will be far cheaper than providing housing, food, education, health care for the millions of illegal’s. The naysayer’s said a transcontinental railway couldn’t be built either, but they did in the 1860’s . They also said you couldn’t build enough Liberty ships and you couldn’t build 50,000 airplanes a year but they did in WWII. The Manhattan project was a pipe dream. They told Ike that it wouldn’t be feasible to build the interstate highway system, but they did. Kennedy was off his rocker when they said we would land a man on the moon before the end of the 60’s, right?

Now we can’t even build a Go*a** fence??????

I want a fence because it is a physical thing I can see!!!!!!!!! I don’t trust the bastards when they say they can do the job with lasers. They will just lie and say, yeah we installed all kinds of high tech equipment and the border is now secure. You going to believe that???? Let’s tear the low tech physical fence down that is guarding the S. Korean border and bring it home and replace it with lasers and sensors.

When Reagan was dealing with the Soviet’s on a new SALT treaty he said “trust but verify” I would trust the old Soviet’s more to keep their word than these miserable politicians in Washington. I don’t trust them and I can verify their word of border security by seeing a physical fence.

    Build the fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear all sorts of people telling us why a fence won't work, but just out of curiousity:

Why is it that a fence will work in Gaza and the West Bank, but wouldn't work here?

The old line is that 'if it only saves one life, it's worth it.' Well, a fence would make border crossing more difficult, at the very least, and would likely deter the least capable - which would have to include the mothers with small children. Doesn't that make it worthwhile?

The Communists in East Germany built a wall..........We all know what happened to that wall.............. so I don't think building a fence will do the trick either. Hauxfan!

    Tony,

The wall in Gaza and the West Bank work because they have a shoot on sight clause. That will never happen here.

What good will a fence do????? I'm telling you straight out!!!! Not one damn bit of good!!!!

Why????????? Because the Border Patrol turns their back to dope runners,,and gangs of human smugglers,,,WHY???? Gawddam Money!!!! Thats why!!!

What good is a fence when full squads of Mexican Troops using military vehicles are escorting drug runners????

What good is a fence when American troops are doing the same thing????

What good is a fence when Paco the Mexican Private meets Chewy the American Corporal and decide to go into business together using taxpayer vehicles to distribute their products????

What good is fence when it takes 8 muther*^%$#*& years to fill the hole american authorities KNEW WAS THERE ALL ALONG??????????

What good is a fence when all along our laws have been flouted and not being enforced by our own President????????????????

What good is a fence with more laws,,,if the exsisting ones aren't being enforced?????

What good is a fence and our own National Guard when they turn tail and run like jackrabbits from nothing more than Dope Runners????

What good is National Security when the back door is left open and all the 3rd world trash blows in?????

Why do american men still wear pants???? You've got nothing to hide or protect anymore,,,,so you may as well wear skeet dresses or togas!!!!

You've bled for every other nation on the face of the earth and called it "your duty",,,,,Why do you turn your backs to your duty as americans????

If there is a god,,I thank him or her or it,,,I thank that being that you men weren't the ones depended on in 1776!!!!!

They were scared too,,,,,and to be caught meant your death as a traitor to England!!!! They gave their all for you!!!! They gave you your three car garage,,and your set of custom made Pings,,,and you men shit right in their faces!!!!

And you wonder why???? Why can't we win a war????? Why we can't protect our own border???? Why we can't win the war on drugs???? Why we can't stop human smuggling???? Why your own president won't enforce our laws???

You don't deserve the Constitution of the United States of America,,,,,It is wasted on men like you,,,wasted!!!!!!!!!!!

A fence without true enforcement is just a waste of tax dollars.

The lack of enforcement predates Alberto Gonzalez, it goes back at least two administrations, if not more.

Shut off the free medical and education for non- citizens, have stiff penalties (including jail time) for employers of illegals, and punish landlords who house these cockroaches and they will go away by themself.

Why do we bother having these types of threads on here, it always ends in a pissing contest to see who can make fun of the other person the most and say how stupid their beliefs are. As far as I know, most of the people on this site are of age 30 or older, but quite a few act like they are 5 when it comes to threads like this.

Now, my BELIEFS are, that I think we need SOMETHING between us and Mexico, it may not keep ALL of them out, but at least something better than what we have now.

    Nyttro,

Maybe we need to brush up on dates this am.....You said,"Well Wireguy, in case you did not notice, Mr. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in November 1967. The U.S, sent men to the Moon in 1971, sorry for the delay."

Thought you might want to read this....

On July 20, 1969, the human race accomplished its single greatest technological achievement of all time when a human first set foot on another celestial body.
Six hours after landing at 4:17 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (with less than 30 seconds of fuel remaining), Neil A. Armstrong took the “Small Step” into our greater future when he stepped off the Lunar Module, named “Eagle,” onto the surface of the Moon, from which he could look up and see Earth in the heavens as no one had done before him.

He was shortly joined by “Buzz” Aldrin, and the two astronauts spent 21 hours on the lunar surface and returned 46 pounds of lunar rocks. After their historic walks on the Moon, they successfully docked with the Command Module “Columbia,” in which Michael Collins was patiently orbiting the cold but no longer lifeless Moon.

So yes JFK got the ball rolling and yes we did step on the moon in "1969", just thought you should know....DingoDan

    Nyttro,

What kind of moron are you? You’ve posted several times about your opinion of the fence. You’ve proven that you know absolutely nothing about this subject or the geography of this country. So let me correct you on a couple of your points. First California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas share a land border with Mexico. There are not 8 or 9 states that would be involved in the fence. What country do you live in anyway? Secondly you said of the 2100 mile proposed fence “Hell, they won't even come close to closing Mexico, let alone Texas and the other 8 States that have the same problem.” I’m assuming that in this context you meant New Mexico, well pall closing New Mexico would take about 200-250 mile of fence, Arizona about 350 miles California about 200 miles and the balance of the full 2100 miles of border is in Texas, ending at the Golf of Mexico. BTW, no charge for this minuscule bit of knowledge. But if I were you I’d try not to show such a massive amount of ignorance when trying to push your left wing political agenda.

As for Grammie and others that don’t believe this fence would do anything. If nothing else it would be a sign that our government just might be getting it. But more then that they surly know that the number one stolen type of vehicle in the southwest is full size 4x4 trucks and suvs. To be used to smuggle drugs and illegals across the desert. Sure they will be able to get over the fence but not by the truck load. Building a fence is a start in the right direction, and it will absolutely be better then doing nothing, which is what our government has chosen to do!

    Bravo to CD!

I think a 15-18 foot concrete tilt wall "fence" built by mexicans making minimum wage would solve a lot of problems. Mucho trabajo! Then tell them to get to painting the mexican side. If possible run high voltage underground wiring to handle the tunnel rats.

Unless Tancredo gets elected, it will never happen. The politicos don't want to insult our biggest trading partner and miss out on the graft.

Bush has shown that he's mexico's bitch and his resolve in the ME is waining. Hillary is becoming a real threat thanks to Bush and his administration.

Some realities that we deal with down here on the border that some just don't understand.

1.Yuma County looses about two million dollars worth of farm tractors that are stolen and driven right across the fenceless border every year. I attended a joint task force meeting a couple of years ago that involved local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as well as local equipment dealers, farmers and yours truly insurance industry people. The best solution to the problem without a fence is now expensive satellite shutoff systems that not all farmers can afford.

2.Most drug and human smugglers, drive their cargo across fenceless open desert in stolen 4 wheel drive vehicles. Most of the time if they are detected and the BP is able to get them to stop the vehicle the criminals exit the vehicle and scatter, running back across the fenceless border.

3.From my home or anywhere in Yuma County you can cross the fenceless border in a very short drive through the desert. But there is a fence, it runs from the San Luis port of entry a whopping 2 miles. Then there is about 150 mile to Sonota at the next port of entry with absolutely no fence at all.

Sure there will still be some that can scale or tunnel and come across the border on foot with hopes of evading the BP. But it won’t be the thousands we see today it will be a few. And the drugs will not come in the full SUV load, they will be in a lucky hikers backpack full. Sure it’s not the only answer but it is a must and will absolutely cut down 99% of the non port entry and 100% of the vehicle non-port entry.

i would strongly support a shoot on sight border thats the only way its gonna do anything, and they are talking about a fence, shit all you need is a wire cutters or shovel or ladder and your home free. all i want is for these parasites to get out of this country and if they are already here illegally ship em back none of this amnesty BS, our government is a massive joke you can't trust a word they say, they will say anything if it makes someone happy but for them to do it is another thing.
