So tonight I felt like staying in and opened a nice bottle of Hess reserve Merlot. Are there any other trapshooters that enjoy a good glass of wine or is this stuff just for the skeeters? There was a thread back a while ago about your favorite beer so I figured I would start one about your favorite wine. So.....what brand/kind of wine do you enjoy???

Seven New York City bartenders were asked if they could nail a woman's personality based on what she drinks. Though interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts. The results:

    Drink: Beer
Personality: Casual, low-maintenance; down to earth.
Your Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool.

    Drink: Blender Drinks
Personality: Flaky, whiny, annoying; a pain in the buttocks.
Your Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabin boy.

    Drink: Mixed Drinks
Personality: Older, more refined, high maintenance, has very picky taste; knows exactly what she wants.
Your Approach: You won't have to approach her, if she is interested, she'll send YOU a drink.

Drink: Wine - (does not include White Zinfandel, see below)
Personality: Conservative and classy; sophisticated yet giggles.
Your Approach: Tell her you love to travel and spend quiet evenings with friends.

    Drink: White Zinfandel
Personality: Easy; thinks she is classy and sophisticated, actually has no clue.
Your approach: Make her feel smarter than she is.... this should be an easy target.

    Drink: Shots
Personality: Likes to hang with frat-boy pals and looking to get totally drunk...... and naked.
Your Approach: Easiest hit in the joint. You have been blessed this evening. Nothing to do but wait. However, be careful not to make her mad!

Then there is the MALE addendum. The deal with guys is, as always, very simple and clear cut:

Domestic Beer: He's poor and wants to get "played" (censored)

Imported Beer: He likes good beer and wants to get "played".

Wine: He's hoping that the wine thing will give him a sophisticated image to help him get "played".

Whiskey: He doesn't give a hoot about anything but getting "played".

Tequila: He is thinking he has a chance with the toothless waitress.

    White Zinfandel: He's gay.

If it's red, big, bold, dark, 16.5% alc, I'll probably like it. For sure, with the prime rib, Dobra Zemlja Zinfandel, Amador Co., CA., '74 Heitz Martha's Vineyard Cabernet, or a quality Barolo from Italy or a Dow from Portugal and a Trockenbeerenauslese with fresh peaches for desert.....Don't break these....Bob Dodd

I know little about wine, but when I go out to eat at the better places here. When asked If I want a glass of wine. I have been asking for Chefs recomendation with the meal I get. I favor the reds. But have had several good wines with my meals so far.

All wine would be red if it could.

I like Caymus or Dunn any bigger than life Cabernet or Syrah. I just discovered Terry Hoage Syrah from California's central coast, what a wine. I think I'll have a glass or two.

Louis Jadot Pinot Noir. We also have a fantastic selection right here in Western NY with the Finger Lakes region right in our backyard. My Favorite Winery is on Seneca Lake, Hazlett Vineyards.
