That would make David Paterson our new governor. Apparently this is a lateral change for gunowners.

From votesmart.org (the only place I could find mention of his stance on gun control):

2004 Based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionnaire sent to all state legislative candidates in 2004, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund assigned Lieutenant Governor Paterson a grade of F (with grades ranging from a high of A+ to a low of F).

2004 Lieutenant Governor Paterson supported the interests of the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence 100 percent in 2004.

Another hypocritical politician making a rep as "law and order" while he is no better than those he prosecutes. F*ck him, I hope he gets convicted.

I would guess that some of the receivers of his legal outrage as Attorney General of New York are dancing and pouring champagne tonight.

He really ran roughshod over a lot of folks on Wall Street. His methods were really border line, and he made a lot of enemies. Nice to see that he is getting his compeuppance.

Of course, the new governor, as noted above, is no prize.

    Best,
    Dennis

I read a news article that stated the "service" Mr. Spitzer employed costs up to $5500.00 per hour. I cannot even begin to fathom that.

Gov Spitzer is bad enough. His extreme left wing replacement, David Patterson, has called for legislation forcing police to shoot only to "wound" not to "kill". He evidently feels the life of a felon is worth more than any police officer. Imagine the implications if this becomes law. It may be difficult to find a police officer left in NY. Ross

    Spitzer: I’ve Been Screwed
    NY Guv Answers Prostie Charges

Embattled New York Governor Eliot Spitzer held a hastily scheduled press conference to answer charges that he patronized a prostitution ring, telling reporters, “I’ve been screwed.”

While Mr. Spitzer refused to elaborate on his comment, he added for emphasis, “I’ve been screwed and it’s cost me a lot.”

Aides to the New York governor applauded him for responding quickly to the charges but across the state political observers wondered if he had raised more questions than he had answered.

Mr. Spitzer, who has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), did receive a vote of support from her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who offered to “take over his position” if the governor is forced to step down.

“I am happy to perform all of the roles that Eliot has been performing,” Mr. Clinton said, adding that he had the experience to make crucial phone calls at 3 A.M.
