Just curious, what is the average or general area in numbers of targets to get to the 27 yard line? Without penalty yardage is kind of what I am looking for.
    I made it in 2100.

It only took me 100 targets to get from the 26 to the 27.

If you shoot mostly small local shoots, you can do it to yourself quick.

I got punched my first ATA handicap and moved to A class singles.

Backed off the small shoots, then made the 27 in about 5K.

I got to the 24 in 2000 or so and never got any further. That was 9 years ago. Now I am back at the 21.

I went from the 20 to the 27 in about 13 months and maybe 10,000+ shells. All in Southern California, Reno, and Phoenix shoots when every shoot had 30+ squads, and sometimes a lot more. That was in the olden days....

6,100 for me, slow learner I guess. Made it at the Illinois State Shoot on a 2 man squad with Drew Waller, he broke a 99, I was just trying to keep up, that was exciting. Harv Shell

I don't know how many targets it took me, but it was 5 years. I know someone who went to the 27 in 1 year which came out to 500 targets.

19,000. Actually my son made it there before me and I got tired of the ribbing and being stuck at the 26 1/2 so I made a more concerted effort. I might add that all those targets were shot before voice systems, many on three holers and even more on white or yellow domed targets!!

I lost count but can tell you that little piece of real estate is probably the most expensive thing I have ever had the pleasure to stand on ... I have a belt buckle that cost me over $10,000 to win, its proably worth $100.00 if you went out and bought it and $25.00 if you tried to sell it, besides that I don't even wear it ... Whats numbers got to do with it, it dollars (since starting out) that you should of asked about and then you'll get some eye opening numbers ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I am jealous. I just started last year. Went from the 20 to the 22, took me 3650 targets. At the rate that I am going it will be 12,775 targets. I do know alot of shooters who have been doing this quite a while and have not made it past the 25. Hope that I can get to the fence some day.

My son Nate made it to the 27 in 3500 targets including a 5th place finish at the 2001 Grand in the preliminary handicap shooting the rubber Remington(unbreakable) targets they were throwing then. He moved to the 27 just after that at the Delta, Colorado labor day shoot with a 98. Phil

Scott, I really wonder why someone--anyone---- would question you without knowing the facts first. I never gave it that kind of thought as I think it is totally possible. Guys, shooting trap ain't rocket science! Phil S.
