You can put about 450 empty 12 ga hulls in a 5 gallon bucket or about 500 loaded rounds. About 90 hulls per gallon so just about 5K in a 55 gal barrel.
I have used the estimate of 500 hulls in a target box. If the box is rounded a bit at the top, a few more than 500 will fit. I know where to get a lot of empty target boxes.
Cowboy, 400 hulls fit into a Remington Fig-8 wad bag, almost to the top. 2,000 fit into a 20 gal trash can. I received 2500 hulls in a Remington Fig-8 wad box (for 5000 wads), but the sides and top were bulging.
I've used Pat's estimate for a number of years. I figure a bit over 500
in a White Flyers target box, just enough to give the buyer some extras in
case of any possible bad hulls in the group.
I also ditto Pat's guesstimate; 12 ga of course......Bob Dodd
