    Southern Zone Telephonic - July 17-20, 2008

We hope we have the biggest crowd ever assembled for this event at our Homegrounds.

With similar backgrounds, ease of access, ERAD voice calls and a brand spanking new COOL clubhouse, what more can I say!

Terry Dean and crew you won't have to get shade beside the outhouse any longer!

    YA'LL Come!

Only 3 more days until the Southern Zone cranks up! We are looking forward to the shoot and it looks like it will be rather toasty for the weekend!

If you need more info or directions to the NC Homegrounds just mash on the link above and look for the info!

Great weekend of shooting in NC this weekend! Ft. Bragg hosted a good number of shooters Saturday with 40 singles shooters, 28 caps and 18 doubles entries participating. 99's won the singles, 98 won the caps and the "MID 50" pot and a 96 won the doubles.

Rockingham hosted a Lewis Class non-registered shoot Sunday with almost 20 shooters. Martin Carter broke 49 in the singles and 48 in the caps for an impressive 97 and 3 better than the next competitor. Thanks to some guidance from a NC Hall Of Famer Elmo Matkins and a new release trigger from the infamous Chatbrat, Martin got it done!

We also celebrated JC Nunn's 85th birthday with a card, a present, some singing, a cake and some ice cream. He had no idea that we had planned and festivities in his honor!

    Have a great week!

hoosier likes NC and he wishes some of his old buddies were still shooting including Dan "straightaway" Johnson!

Glad to hear that you are coming down!!

The picture above was taken at the NC STATE SHOOT 2008 - hoosier is the fellow with the obvious muzzle jump created by the Seitz or was that a high target?

Another hot day in the Carolina's and it looks like it was a big day at the HG! I just got off the phone with Jimmy Wilson. He had just finished up a game of "cornhole" and had emerged from the shower and resting in his terry cloth bath wrap and rice slippers.

As usual a bunch of 100's and about 77 singles shooters. Royce White from KY broke a 100 in caps to complete his GRAND SLAM amongst 82 shooters. There were three 98's tied for the doubles with Randy Ross and Ray Gaultney two of the shooters amongst 60+ competitiors.

Jeri Wilson broke a 96 today and is only 1 yard away from the 27! She will sit out the caps Friday to concentrate on singles and doubles! The squad wlll be back in the saddle with me.jeri.jeff.hunter and the tailgunner for Saturday's singles!

We are meeting the tailgunner at the Denny's in Kernersville at 6:30 AM. We are in squad 30 something for doubles in the AM and we might be the 2nd wave out!

Have a great Friday and we will have the laptop with us! We hope to get a report together sometime Friday night!

Day 1 is over at BGC and George Brown won the singles with a 99 - Jimmy Wilson won the caps with a 97 from the 27 and Charlie Brown won the doubles with a 94. Charlie Brown also won the HOA with a 282x300.

Sunday you have two chances to snag that MID50 pot that is up over 2300 bucks! Good luck you are going to need it!

It looks like the POT got busted today at the Buckhorn Gun Club. Rockinghan Gun Club member Lane Murray put it to rest with a 96 from the 20.5 yard line. He shot in the "chick" squad with Ann Morgan, Beans Page and Cary Branthwaite. He split a $3245 pot and will shoot from the 22 on the second 100.
