North Carolina Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue wants to suspend congressional elections for the next couple of years to allow congress more time to put people back to work.

You people in North Carolina need to start passing around recall petitions. This idiot is not fit to serve.

As unbelievable as it may sound, many folks would agree with her. HOW did she ever get elected to office?

I'm sorry but you are wrong about idiots. We, in California, have the market cornered on that. In fact he has been elected not once, not twice but three times.

    Beat that.

This is just a "trial balloon" by the dems (progressive liberals) to test the waters. Same idea was also "separately" mentioned by a "former" aide to obama. They just want to see if it might be feasible (read acceptable) to the media and their supporters in some fashion and see if there might be some way they could get away with it. The thing to remember is that, in all of history, no socialist government has ever willingly given up power or accepted an election defeat.

Sure there is. It's called conservatism and libertarianism.

But not RINOism. That's just a placebo.

    I stand corrected,

By the way on the news the gov's office was saying her remarks were taken out of context.

    Mr. Barker and All:

Maybe the linked article will help with context. The headline states, "Perdue jokes about suspending Congressional elections for two years". However, according to the article, it wasn't clear she was joking.

Here's the full link in case the one above doesn't work...

You said, "... in all of history, no socialist government has ever willingly given up power or accepted an election defeat".

I suspect you meant communists. Communists sometimes allow sham elections where the communist candidate always wins by a landslide. About as often, some communist fruit loop like Hugo Chavez declares himself potentate for life eliminating even the pretense of an election.

The salient point is this: murder - including mass murder - as well as full blown genocide are all part of the communists' political tool box. That's only possible in places where governments control gun ownership.

Socialism OTOH, is a transitional step on the way to a totalitarian state. Communists prefer taking full and immediate control of nations and their governments by coup, or if necessary, armed revolution. When neither of those is an option, communists settle for socialism as an interim step.

The primary difference is that socialists don't have the guns (literally or figuratively speaking) to remain in power when defeated in an election. For example, the 2008 general elections put a socialist majority in charge of the U.S. House, Senate and White House. The 2010 mid-term elections ended the socialist House majority when a record number of the rotters were sent packing.

Voters will have an opportunity to send the rest of them b@stards packing in November 2012. Its an opportunity that shouldn't be missed.
