FEMA was originally set up to deal with the aftermath of a nuclear attack was it not? Seems it needs to become something else...or disappear...JMHO

they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can’t do any work there since they’re not union employees.

    We tried to help!

Something called the Jones Act appears to be responsible. Something to do with US flagged ships passed in 1920.

Another example of government gone amuk. And a great example of how government stands in the way of progress, while saying they are 'protecting' us all.

    Repeal it now.

Not a hoax, rather a stupid act by rank and file workers not recognizing the emergency aspect of the situation.

After 50 years of union membership I have seen some stupid things. This is a problem of individual deteriorated brain matter rather than a deficiency of the union.

If I was in that local I would call for disciplint of the fools.

Statement made from a spokesperson from Decatur Utilities:

"As we waited for clarification, we became aware that Seaside Heights received the assistance they needed from other sources," the statement says. "To be clear, at no time were our crews 'turned away' from the utility in Seaside Heights."

Title and last sentence don't agree with each other!!

Why are people using this website to bitch and moan about things that do not effect them and trying to make it into a political forum instead of ehat it was meant for? Should i complain and run to the media every time a disaster happens in a right to work state and organized workers are sent home as soon as possible, or turned back because they are union? That doesn't happen because of the integrity of individuals involved in organized labor. I guess the best thing to do is start taking care of ourselves, see what the paychecks amount to in your right to work states. LOL There is only one reason utilitys from the south came up here and its definitely not out of the goodness of their heart. Now please stop using this site to express your political views and carry on conversing about trapshooting which is what it was meant for.

You didn't have to open the thread, nuke!! THIS is a forum site NOT restricted to just Trap shooting.

    http://www.foxbusiness.com/government/2012/11/02/union-red-tape-in-nj-causes-alabama-recovery-crew-to-head-home/

Unions only believe in the "unity" of its members, NOT the common man or the Nation!! Actions speak louder then words!!!!!!

Have you ever heard of the man, Karl Marx?? or the word "Progressive??

Well Nuke..... This forum is like a trap club. While waiting to shoot, you discuss many topics. Not just 7 1/2's or 8's.

You sir had to do 2 things to get to this thread.

    1) read the title of the thread.

    2) click on said thread title.

Now, don't b@tch because you don't like what others are saying.

    Move On....

    Jeesh.....

Hey, you guys take it easy on Nuke! He just signed on last week and this is just his second reply. Your harshness may discourage him.

Nuke, just for your info since you apparently are too lazy to check it out, those crews were sent by companies that have contracts in those states and needed to assist so their regular work would continue according to contracts. My brother had several crews that were pulled to assist but were left sitting in hotels. Oh, and we discuss whatever we want to. You may need help to a problem and this is a good place to get that help. Jackie B.
