I only wish more governors and legislators would follow Governor Perry's lead in signing legislation like this.

"Texas State Rifle Association Political Action Committee

Today, April 27, 2007, Governor Rick Perry signed SB 112 by Senator John Carona (R-Dallas).

SB 112 moved through the legislative process with the aide of a House version, HB 258 by Rep. Frank Corte (R-San Antonio).

This landmark legislation should protect Texans during a time of declared disaster, natural or man-made, by putting statutory guidance in the Government Code, protecting 2nd Amendment rights in a time of chaos, and allowing law enforcement resources to be better allocated to other matters. Texans should never experience New Orleans-style gun confiscations.

Thanks to Governor Perry and to Senator Carona and Representative Corte. Also, many thanks to the sponsors and co-authors who signed on to these bills and thanks to others in the Legislature for their vote".

They did this in Australia and collected the interest in a 40% rise in violent crime right away.

In Texas we feel that the reverse will work just fine. The Governor also signed into law a bar to civil suits if a person is shot while doing certain crimes in this state. So if a person is shot neither they nor their family may sue for damages.

Common sense breaking out everywhere in Texas. No wonder so many folks are relocating here.
