Gun control won't come to a vote this session, Minnesota House speaker says...

Prospects for stricter gun laws were slim at best before House Speaker Paul Thissen, DFL-Minneapolis, said Wednesday, May 1, that the House would not vote on the issue. Thissen said. "I do believe we can get there at some point, but I don't think we can find that place this session."

HAHA, and with elections next year, there will be no plans then.

Andrew Rothman, vice president of the Minnesota Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance, said critics like to point to the National Rifle Association as the "500-pound-gorilla" because the organization can send in professional lobbyists. But it's local grass-roots groups like his -- where the power is people, not money -- that make an impact, he said.
