    Hello:
I really could use your help. I have a teenage nephew that is shooting a Remington 870 TB with a 28 inch fixed Modified choke, which measure .016 amount of constriction.

He is disabled and is a chair shooter and he does not shoot fast. When I shoot his gun I can smoke targets but all he gets are chips.

Do any of you have a 28 inch or 30 inch fixed full choke trap barrel that you will sell or know where he can purchase one. I have tried Ebay, called to gun stores, clubs, and no one has one.

PM me if you have one that you will sell him or know of a place that has one.
    Thanks,
    Steve Balistreri

    Steve,
As DennisW mentioned go to Gunbroker or AuctionArms and look for barrels. They have many.

"remington 870 mod. trap 12 ga. barrel" on GB. I don't see the choke listed.

Thanks for the info. Because he's a chair shooter and already has a 28" barrel that he is use to, his first choice is a 28 inch full choke trap barrel. Still looking for him.

Unless your nephew is letting the bird get way out there, I don't think a barrel/choke change is going to solve the problem. I would almost bet it is a POI/POA problem. Butch from Pgh

    Smoke,

Just reading your initial post has me wondering about a few things. If you can shoot the gun and smoke the targets perhaps the choke is too constrictive for him. It sounds as if he may be barely hitting the bird with the periphery of the pattern. I would try going the other way instead of getting another full choke, longer barrel, why not try a Mod, or Imp Mod choked barrel ?

Now having said that I stood on the 16 with an Mod choke and ground hundreds of targets. I dont think you need a full choke on the 16 unless your really on the bird. I am sure that others will have different opinions on the issues, this is just my 2cents.

    Good Luck, yours in sport.

He shoots to slow, as the 16 yard targets turns into a handicap target.
