    We have bacon as part of our meat prizes. Just bought 100 lb and it was reasonable. Have not seen a price increase or shortage yet

    Bacon has gone from 2 bucks a pound to 4-5 bucks here.

    Ham, however is only up about 10 per cent.

    Go figure.

    We make our own bacon, well Canadian and beef bacon, and damn it is good, I can make a meal on the beef bacon, my wife just made 7 lbs yesterday

    I thought something was up!!! Oscar Mayer bacon in one pound sliced packages are now over $7.50 per pack at the "discount store" here!!! Ouch. break em all. Jeff

    I suspect Rick Barker nails it.

    As a traded commodity it is subject not just to supply and demand, but also to speculation.

    One only need look at the price of oil/fuel. Supplies are UP but so are prices - has little to do with supply and much to do with speculation...
