    Including Damascus.

Presuming decent lock-up and no lace-y barrels.

I would check with a gunsmith on any SxS that old. I would also verify chamber length.

By 1914, smokeless powder was the norm. My 1903 Springfield target rifle, with its barrel being made in 1911 and receiver made in 1920, shoots full power factory 150 grain cartridges well. However, due to its age, I shoot a reduced hand load of 44.5 grains of IMR 4895 which pushes a 150 grain bullet at about 2400 fps at the range.
