Considering a tactical style 870. Wilson's rep has always been top notch as far as I know but what about Nighthawk? I know you can build your own but would rather go this way.

The guy's that build the Night Hawk used to work for Bill Wilson. Both
are quality guns but I don't know that their guns can do more that a home
    built-up 870.

You might consider Wilson's "Remington Steal" conversion should you have, or can buy, a cheap 870.

I sent to them a beat-up 870, and they returned a very nice, completely rebuilt and re-finished defense weapon at a reasonable price. Call them for current pricing.

I have both Wilson and Nighthawk 1911's. The last one they will be able to take out of my cold dead hands would be the Wilson.

I thought about the conversion but I don't have a beater 870 and to buy one to convert is about a wash. It also looks like building one your self would maybe cost more.
