Once again, Howard Township Conservation Club in Niles, Michigan will be hosting their annual New Year's Day Calcutta. Shoot starts at 9:00 am with 5 man protection shoots and practice. Teams will be sold at auction around 11:30 am.

1st Event will be a 100 bird pick your partner. Yardage's that will be shot are the 21, 23, 25, and 27. One shooter will shoot 50 targets and back up 50 targets and vice versa. Entry to the shoot will be $22.00.

2nd Event will be shooters choice. I'm sure it will be a draw your partner but the amount of birds that will be shot is the shooters choice. Either another 100 birder or 75 or 50. Again, this will be shooters choice.

Word is Ernie will be cooking a Ham and Turkey so please bring a dish to pass.

Feel free to reply with any questions.

    Hope to see everyone there!

    Tony,

Shell limit? I'm a little confused. Can you be more specific?

I think he's wondering whether he can shoot 1.5 oz of #4 at 1500 fps.

In that case you can shoot whatever your shoulder can take.

    Matt,
The one thing I really miss about moving to SC is the HTCC New Years Day shoots. Between those and the Chain-O-Lakes Meat shoots, I really miss the
gang up there. Guys here are just too serious about their trapshooting, won't try just having some fun shoots. Too bad, life is too short to be so darned serious all the time.
Have a great time and remember that us old "Once Was Midwest" shooters still remember your New Years Day shoots with fond memories...

    Matt,
From what I have heard recently, including a recent trip up to South
Bend, Chain-O-Lakes is not very active. The economy has been hit pretty
hard there in Northern Indiana, from what the guys there say. I understand
that they are still running the Trap Games on the first Sunday of each month,
but haven't heard news of any Meat Shoots. Too bad, those were always lots of
fun and always well attended. You guys from HT always took home MORE than
your allotted share of Meat prizes, but we still enjoyed having you come
    down and shoot.
Anyhow, glad to hear that HT is still alive and kicking. Hope you guys
all have a very Merry Christmas and a great New Years Day shoot.

    Adam

    AdamsRibs,

If you remember the meat shoots, how about Mrs. Coolies pies?

    t-bar,
Yes, we used to have some really good "pot-luck" meals at the
Meat Shoots as well as the great times shooting. I was one of the
guys who ran the shoots during the period 2001-2004. It was my job
to provide the meat for the shoot, we used to get it all at East Side
Grocery in Michigan City. The fellow who ran that place gave us some
great deals on the meats when we bought the slew of stuff we bought.
It worked out great for everybody and I had to drive right past
their front door on the way to the Club, so it was not a big deal
to pickup and deliver..... I really miss those events, we just can't
seem to get one going down here. Too many really serious Trapshooters,
afraid that they will mess up their routines by shooting for fun and
    games. Too bad....
