As mentioned in my other thread the Dillon is going back once the return shipping label arrives this week. I was going to pickup a pair of MEC 9000Gs to use for my trap loads but after talking with Dicksie from Spolar she has me sold on the Spolar machine. I expect that this press will live up to my expectations!

When you get your new Spolar, reloading will become your passion. Had mine for close to 5yrs now with no problems and great support.

I just ordered the press and even the ordering process was awesome. They took all of my load info (primer, hull, powder type and weight, wad, shot info, etc.) so they can set the machine up so it is ready to run as soon as I unpack it. Now I just have to wait, which I hate to do.

Probably 2-3 weeks. I called in the order today but I'm waiting to get my refund from Dillon on my credit card before another press is charged on it.

    Rich:

    You will enjoy the Spolar.

Sorry you had so much trouble with the Dillon.

Watch the video a couple of times, and then set up the unit.
Refer to the video as needed.

Take your time the first couple of days; after that it is second nature.

Check that your primers are dropping properly every once in a while.

You will love the loads and their consistency.

    Regards, and good shooting ...

and welcome to the Spolar family.

I find it hard to believe how hard you find it to believe that the Dillon I got was a POS out of the box. It's unfortunate you aren't closer so you could come and spend a few hours trying to get the press to function correctly. My PW 800+ never had as many problems as the Dillon unit I got did from the start and I bought my PW used.

The PW 800+ wasn't that bad of a unit. I had a few minor problems with it but nothing near as bad as my experiences with the SL900. I'm not saying that all SL900s are junk, but I will say the unit I got was.

    The Spolar is $1600.

Why not go with the p/w 800 plus for about half the money? $850.00 dollars. Dale

The threads still floating around but basically I couldn't get the machine to function properly from the start. They sent the machine out with a faulty lever mechanism that holds the shell into station 2, this prevented 98% of shells from lining up correctly when being primed.

After they sent a new part out to fix that, and it did fix it so that it ran flawlessly the machine quit dropping shot. It quit dropping shot reliably before it quit working the second time but I was able to fix that. After the second time though I lost my tolerance for dealing with the machine.

I hope I do like it. I'm sure that if the Dillon machine worked I would had liked that to. No, I'm not one of those never happy type of people. I'm satisfied quite easily but the Dillon was flawed from the start.

    Dale,

I had a PW 800+ and it was a good machine but it lacked features I want in a machine and I had a few minor problems with it. I will say any of the problems I had were fixed easily enough.

Interesting. I believe you when you say you had a bad machine. Why not get another from Dillon?

I hope the Spolar has what you're looking for.
