The problem with Viszlas is that they are not very visible under many field conditions such as woods and autumn/winter grasses. They seem to just melt into the background. I have the same problem with my Setters when it snows. I guess that you need to hunt them with an orange safety vest most of the season.

V's are great bird dogs if trained properly and it looks like you have it figured out. I couldn't agree more about enjoying your dogs 12 months a year not just during bird season. I keep a few bird dogs and a lab or sometimes two, and we get out just about every day the weather is civil. The dogs also take turns coming to work with me and the days I don't have a dog with me are sure lonely. Congrats on owning some great looking and working dogs.

Most recent picture of Pup and older dog pointing robins in back yard funny as soon as season starts Pearl will pay not attention to song birds for most part , they grow fast Pup is 5 months old now I have shot over him he is fetching great dummy with wings taking hand signals he was born 1/14 . I was concerned with a young dog he would follow older dog but he hunts on his own can,t wait for season.

Ruben is better looking than most of the male trapshooters I know, including myself.

Copper, sad news indeed about Pearl, I feel for both of you. I agree with Wolf, enjoy the time/times remaining with her.

You've done a great job with Rubens training! You taught him to hunt by scent on his own and he's caught on to hunting his own birds very quick! Taught as such, when in the fields, even with older dogs, he'll want to find birds on his own then also!

All our best to you and your dogs.

    Hap

THIS is Reuben and this is how we spell his name! He's a Cracker Jack!
It's amazing how fast this dog can run and what he'll retrieve!
