The USA will now be called a BATTLEGROUND in all matters of Homeland security, if necessary we can use American troops against civilians, so say the senate.
This a declaration of war against us. Lee

Most of us were brought up believing US Military troops couldn't be used against citizens. It wasn't true then and sure isn't now. The pensioners protest after WW1, Wounded Knee are a couple of examples. It wouldn't matter much anyway now that our police have become so militarized..Waco..for instance and just look at any Swat team even in small towns. It doesn't look good for the future.

It never ceases to amaze me how flipant people can be regarding the giving up of civil liberty's no matter how righteous or innocent the reasons may seem. So goes the demise of a once great nation when people become sheep.

The bill allows the military to detain anyone without cause or warrant EXCEPT citizens of the United States or aliens here lawfully.

This is the section everyone is overlooking:

"(b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens-

    (1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.

    (2) LAWFUL RESIDENT ALIENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to a lawful resident alien of the United States on the basis of conduct taking place within the United States, except to the extent permitted by the Constitution of the United States."

Once a law is in place, presidential emergency powers can make it effective for everyone. All you need is the ability to have the troops trained in the manuvers required.

We imprisoned Japanese-Americans in internment camps during WW2. Someof them had their businesses confiscated and shut down. This was done by Executive Order. (does that ring a bell?)

    These were American citizens.

John McCain strikes again! He "reached across the aisle" and touched Carl Levin who no other Republican would touch with a 10 ft. pole. Imagine if this fool were President. Better than Obama? Maybe - but only maybe!

Is this the "internal defense force" which candidate Obama wanted when he spoke of a force as large and as well funded as the US military? Is this his Gestapo? Are we now prisioners inside "fortress America"? Can you just hear them asking, "Where are your papers?"

It should not be taken lightly or scoffed at. This ia a real plan and they know most citizens will watch on tv for the Gastafo comming to their door to check their nationality and loyality.
Who would have thought we would be at the place we are now. Nazie Polosi has already suggested to have children on the government healthcare if the parents can't afford it. however the government will have custody. Wild Bill

The paragraphs you cite are from Section 1032 of Senate Bill 1867. While it is true that Section 1032 specifically exempts American citizens and legal aliens from the provisions OF THAT SECTION, it is also true that that exemption specifically refers only to the acts/activities/etc specified in Section 1032. It does not refer to, nor mention in any way, those acts, associations, support for, etc discussed in Section 1031. Section 1031 does not specify, nor limit, who may be detained for these specified "activities". Thus, Section 1031 could, at least by implication, refer to and allow for actions against American citizens within the U.S., depending on who interprets the "rules". This does not mean that there is some kind of conspiracy to start detaining Americans, or whatever. It means that it could be done, however, if the government decided to interpret it that way. In either case, SB. 1867 does, for all practical purposes, effectively repeal the Posse Commitatus Act of 1878 (not explicitly of course, but in practice) since it basically authorizes the military to act as "defacto police" within the U.S. This may be the real danger of this particular bill.
