The brochure handed out at the dedication stated as follows: $7.00 per day for rifle, pistol and archery; $6.00 per round (25 targets) for shotgun; $20 per day for shooter's camping

Thank You for the information. I am thinking of moving to Las Vegas for the favorable tax situation there - I am darn tired of paying confiscatory tax rates. The concern I have is the overall crime rate in Vegas - I know there is a community called Summerlin which I think is pretty good but I am not totally sure of this.

If your considering moving to Nevada don't just consider Las Vegas, Reno Carson City and east clear to Elko beautifull. My car registration went from nearly $300 to less than $100, property tax and costs cut by 2/3 rds, traffic not a problem, plus they are actually polite.

I went to UNLV and lived in Vegas for 5 years. Sooner or later every dirtbag ends up in Las Vegas. The city attracts them like fly's. Take some advice, go to the Reno/Sparks area, fewer scumbags.

Henderson is a nice area, I have friends that live there and they love it ... They can be in a casino in 15 minutes or avoid them completely ... The houses are priced right now that they finally got a clue that they are not worth what they paid for them ... I almost bought a home there not long ago and still might when the wife retires ... There is a web site that gives crime stats of all the citys and towns all across America but I cannot think of the name of it ... If I can find it I will post it ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Barry, heard nothing on memberships at this time. I am sure when they get up and ging and do some fine tuning, it will be a great venue to shoot.

Las Vegas is a particularly nasty place these days, certainly not the best part of NV. If you just have to be in a big city then look at the Reno/Carson City area. If you like small towns then you are in luck because we have a bunch of great ones in northern NV. Most of these small towns have trap ranges and other shooting opportunities.

My son moved to Vegas a month ago and he hates it. Had to pay a mil for a home comparable to the one in El Paso he moved out of. Traffic sucks and crime is over the top. I hear Elko is nice but I go there once in a while to buy booze cheaper and I don't see anything nice about it

Dear Buffer; You know what I mean. I sold a place in Victorville, Cal. and bought a three bedroom two bath home in Hawthorne, Nv. for less than 1/3 rd. The population here is 3500 and the whole of Mineral County is 4500 there is a 20 mile long lake less than 10 miles from here and it's a 2 hour drive to the big city couldn't be better. Trap clubs in Fallon and Yerington each about 50 miles.

Shotslinger . . . the Clark County Shooting Park is scheduled to open late this year or early next year. However I have not heard anything about their rates. I've lived in Las Vegas for over thirty years and have enjoyed the city very much. I've shot at the Las Vegas Gun Club for alot of years and I'm saddened that they are closing at the end of this year. However as I get closer to retirement age I must admit that Las Vegas is getting to large for my liking. Almost 2 million residents. A good alternative to Las Vegas is Mesquite,Nevada about 85 miles north of Vegas on Intertate 15 on the Nevada / Arizona stateline. I guess you would classify it as a large town or small city. Has a small town feel with some of the benefits that Las Vegas enjoys such as gaming and entertainment. Also has a number of world class golf courses and a great gun club just outside of town. Your also close to the mountains of southern Utah with great fishing and hunting as well as a host of winter sports like skiing and snowmobiling. Don't know what part of the country you live in now but I think you'd like Southern Nevada.

    Gus
