1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

Marcello, can you comment on the rationale for the 3 piece design? Looks interesting and very well made.

We all know the problems that the original firing pins have: the central part that is fasten to the body with the time it will come loose and you have to change it.
Building it in one piece will not resolve the problem because even if it is built with stronger steel there is a possibility, expecially on the tip, that it will break.
I have been making firing pins like the original with some improvement on the materials and the heat treatment and even if I never had so far any kind of problems of separating I want project a firing pin that will not give any type of problems.
I did it but I wasn't satisfy enought because I had a sharp angle by the tip of FP and to eliminate it I went back on my lathe and made three pieces pin. The body made of 39NCD4 heat treated to support the beat of the hammer, the center of C85S pre-tempered and the bushing of 2311.
I wanted reduce the corrosion of the gun powder on the tip so I chemically nicheled the core and the bushing, making this way a perfect firing pin and the cost is only $ 60.00 USD for the set.

with a harder FP, will any damage that normally occurs to the FP transfer back to the hammer instead?

Fly, you're right if the heat treatment on the FP is greater of the hammer you will have problems; not only on the hammer but the FP with the time will splint. To make a good FP ypu really have to know what you are doing.

    Hello, Marcello,

I am currently using your previous design two piece firing pins in my type III Mirage ( with the right hammer correctly modified :)) ..... and they work very well.
If I were to update to your latest 3 piece version, do I need just the tips + bushing with my anvils .... or the whole kit?

    Ciao,
    Garth ( in NS)

    Marcello,
That looks like a very good improvement on the original design. The pins that I recently received from you arrived quickly. I will order a pair of them in the near future.

The Precision trigger uses new style hammer and these FP will work with it.
