Am I correct in this assumption? The minimum participation in a handicap event to get a punch is now 24. or a score greater than96.

Yep, It saved me a punch with 89 this weekend. Down here in Louisiana we never have 25 so either the 96> or the state shoot to move back. I can see 17.5 coming next. Gotta love the ATA gurus. jim w.

As always, you have to look in the Rule Book.

Yep, I looked @ the rule book--most of the shoots I attend, its a struggle to get 15 shooters. 25 will almost be impossible==looks like I'm gonna be a short yardage shooter forever.

If you look ar line #2 under the earned handicap yardage table, it still says a 96 will still win an automatic 1/2 yard punch.

"provided it does not earn that much as provided under the earned yardage table," see page 23.

just talked with Kathy, 96 is still automatic 1/2 yard with 3 shooters or more.

I was just reading the rule book last night, trying to understand how handicap is determined. I was puzzled by the 15+ entries. Is that applied to special categories or the entire shoot? I am a new shooter and attended my first ATA event this past weekend. There were, perhaps, five or six women. After reading the rules re earned yardage, I'm left wondering how mine will ever change.

From the posts above, am I correct that 96 is the magic number? That my yardage won't change until I start shooting 96's?

    Please forgive my ignorance.

Valerie : You can request to be put back, if you like shooting longer or have friends you want to shoot with, just call the home base and ask Kathy.

Valerir. Your category has nothing to do with punches. It is total entries.

I think there is too much sniveling and whining concerning handicap shooting. Just shut up, sign up and go shoot the damned targets. Don't worry about somebody getting a low score punch they will eventually reach a yardage where they can't even shoot a winning low score. Just go shoot the targets and quit moaning.

Phil, just shoot a 100 straight and you'll start moving back regardless of the number of shooters.
