Guys who are serious about shooting games will find a nice 3 inch Mod 12.

You will have much of your budget left to buy ammo.

Have a couple of Ljutic Mono's for a friend that wants around 3500, and 2500 for. Mid ribs, choke tubes and nice wood.

Any of the Perazzi TM series, moves like jet, points like a model 12, has a great trigger and will digest anything you crank through it, never separates shell heads from the tube and rarely breaks down if ever; can't say that about the good old model 12.

WOW! 3500 for an 870! Is it gold plated? Does it do your dishes and walk the dog?

Find a used BT-99 Plus. Adjustable comb, adjustable lop, adjustable rib. Runs forever on anything. Save the extra $ for shells and maybe a different choke. (LF).

Not to nix the idea of a single barrel but........ I own a Browning XT a BT100 and a BT99. Any of the three are fine for games with the XT offering more versatility. Incidentally, my BT99 has the PFS stock as recommended by Salt with an ad on Keensight rib all for a lot less than more expensive alternatives. By the way, most game shooters I know leave the expensive hardware at home.

You might to want to try to find a TM 1 or a Browning XT on the used market. IMHO, both are great guns and will last a long, long time if properly cared for. And you can still buy a pile of shells with what you will have left over from $3500.00. Or a MEC 9000 and a large pile of components to really enter the "dark side" of the hobby. I am a bit baised as I own and shoot both. JMHO. Mike
