Thanks guys for ruining a little fun that I had with my son. I have deleted the photo so social services, EPA or anyone else does not show up on my door step.

That looks like something my 5 year old nephew would do. That kid is a gun nut and clever as a fox to boot. BYG

He should be an engineer. Look at how he staggered the bags to make the fort more stable. Either that or you're a brick layer. Smart kid.

A good idea to let a child play around bags of lead?

Naw, kids can play with lead. It will definitely help him develop his motor skills.

NAW BIGDON The saying goes "If you lock a Marine in a room with a large rock overnight when you open the door in the morning the rock will either be broken, missing or pregnant!!"
Since he's only eight we'll only check for missing or broken.;o)

    Gentlemen:

Mr. Potosky was way to subtle. Those appear to be bags of Lawrence Magnum Shot in woven plastic 'fabric' bags. They don't have an interior plastic liner.

Even if they are another brand, the contents are essentially the same and include inorganic lead, arsenic, and antimony. All three are toxic heavy metals. If inhaled or ingested from unwashed hands they aren't metabolized nor are easily eliminated from the body.

15str8 couldn't be less correct. The toxic effects can be horrific including irreparable damage to the central nervous system. That's why the back of the bags include a warning and lengthy instructions about proper handling and use.

Bags of shot rank HIGH on the list of things a kid shouldn't be screwing with.

I believe we may be overreacting a bit to a child stacking sacks of shot.
I have a very long experience with lead, casting lead soldiers as a child, then later pistol bullets, chewing un lubed lead bullets, crimping split shot sinkers
with my teeth, and handling tons of shot. My lead tests come back clean. I have enough college chemistry to know lead is dangerous, but it's not exactly like playing with a cobra.

Lead does not float freely in your blood. If you work daily in a mine or shot making facility a blood test may have some importance......For a lifetime of being exposed to lead, you'd need a biopsy....

If a casual handler of lead were to have high blood test levels of lead, he'd be in deep shit....

Don't need to believe me, just look it up.

HEHE..they call children exposed to too much lead, Gunny's in the marine corps. Bad cases are Generals.

Please don't take it so personally. It was a cute picture showing the power of your sons imagination. My girlfriends son has heavy metal poisoning from living next to an international airport. What they are going through is no fun.
Wishing you many more days of imaginative play. Kim :)
