Your friend meant to say grains, not grams. 18.2 grams would be around 280 grains of powder which probably wouldn't allow room for the other two components. 18.2 grains of Clays should be okay, if you're unsure after shooting a few, drop your charge a little.

Of all of the usual "starter" powders (the ones people usually buy first) the range of charge weights for 1 1/8 oz. is really narrow - about 16.5 to 19.0 (and 19.0 is the scary end). Make sure you have a scale that is set up to weigh grains and check your loader to see what it's throwing before, during, and at the end of your reloading sessions. If you buy a new keg of powder, start checking again. Good luck.

yes I agree when I tried ( and did copy and paste it thats how it came out ) and you are correct about not going over 16 with that combo of powder wad and primer also I do agree with your choice of load using the 18.2 grains like to suggested he must go to the win209 primer the fed 209a is a Hotter primer and His pressure would be Higher

Win209 or Remington STS209 primer would be lighter. That load is my 3 dram load.
