Our microwave went on the blink today, after 30 years. It was a large one, weighed a ton, and only put out 600 to 700 watts. I want a smaller size but with enough power to do about anything.

I would like advice on what size and brand.

    Thanks,

    Spinner

Currently have a Sharp microwave/convection oven. Like it a lot better than the one we had before. Helps to have someone in the appliance business. Take a look at Consumer Reports, they are testing and rating microwaves every couple years or so. Tony

We bought our latest one at Sears. Keep in mind the newer version of microwaves won't last like your old one. The new ones use "inverters" to make the same power as the older ones. To that end we invested a couple of extra bucks into the extended warranty.

Check Consumer Reports on their ratings.

Ditto to Consumers Reports. Anything else is pure marketing hype.

not all mic's use inverters; just the higher end most expensive units. The rest still are using mags.

Kid bought us a Panasonic, inverter job. What an improvement over our 20 year old model.

Defrost works better than anything I ever saw. Easy to get stuff toohot, all the settings have to be relearned from the increased power.

All stainless, looks good too. I would recommend it.
