A friend in the middle of a divorce has given me a Stevens Model 59A in .410 to sell for him. It's a bolt-action with a tubular magazine, but I am unable to figure out how to get the magazine cap off to feed it. Is there a trick to this particular shotgun? Any help would be appreciated.

It should work just like a rimfire tube. Just push down on it and twist.

Jim101: I finally was able to remove the tube; it was jammed.

MX/MT: This Stevens did not have a serial number, so there was no way I could date it.

P-Boy: Sorry, it has found a home.
