About a month ago, several members here were going to have cataract surgery. Since I may be going through the same thing very soon, I thought I'd ask how everyone is doing. Any problems? Recommendations?

I also play golf and as I recall you're not supposed to bend over or pick up anything heavy for several weeks after the surgery. Is this correct?

It's mainly my right eye that needs cataract surgery, although there is a smaller cataract on the left eye too.

So if I have the surgery done, how long before I could play golf and resume shooting?

    Thanks,

    Easystreet

Quite a few responded to this in a prior thread and you could get your answers with a search......I had my Left eye done and a new lens inserted...no glasses after 55 yrs of wearing them, see like a dream, no glasses while driving, all my Ranger and Decot RX lenses were junk and I was back shooting in one week.
Nothing at all to worry about--they've done a ton of them already. Just follow their instructions in terms of drops, lifting etc--big danger is bleeding and infection I think they said.

Had worst (right eye) done on 12-02-2009. Small cataract in left eye that could have waited but went ahead and had it done on 12-18-2009. No trouble at all. A piece of cake. Bad astigmatism in right eye will require correction. Really weird driving without glasses after 51 years of wearing glasses. Had a 25 pound weight limit for the first week after each eye surgery. Wear the clear plastic eye protector for the first 24 hours after each surgery and then at night for a week after each surgery. Lots of drops in eyes but no big deal. Also told to keep water and shampoo out of the eye operated on for a week.

Glad I did both eyes over a 2 1/2 week period. Surgery brightened up both eyes versus one eye.

I had both eyes done, about a month apart. Had a "Restore" lens
put in my dominant eye, and a "Resume" lens in the non-dominant
eye. Only problem was a slight film which built up on the dominant
eye, causing a "blurred" vison from that eye. A simple laser
procedure cleared up the film and all has been fine since. Would
recommend to anyone with cataracts, it's great. Restrictions were
about the same as previous posters, I was shooting again in about
a week. The fine print from the Liberals doesn't get by me now,
    even without glasses......

I had my left eye done about 5 years ago and my right eye done in December. People don,t recognize me without glasses Unfortunitly I can now see all of te wrinkles around my eyes and realoze that I need a face lift.

It would be a good time to order Phil Kiner's vision exercise disc. It will help you strenghen your eyes after the trauma of surgery. Particularly if you get multi-focal lenses instead of mono-focal.

Had about 20/25 in both eyes but problems on cloudy days, driving at
night etc. Had cataract surgery on left eye 12/2 and right 12/9. Had
mono focal and will probably need glasses to read especially fine print.
Dr recommended against crystal lens and have heard some problems. Don't
know. Both my eyes now 20/20 uncorrected and no problems. Restrictions
about same as above but my doctor restricted shooting for balance of Dec.
Your restrictions should be whatever your doctor recommends. Go for it.

Did exchange e-mails and a phone conversation with Phil Kiner.
He very helpful and knows a lot about eyes. Not at his suggestion,
but did buy his video. He didn't recommend trying to built a master
eye and neither did my doctor. Have always been a one-eye shooter
    and will be after surgery.
