A friend of mine has asked me to load up some soft recoiling 7/8 or 3/4oz loads for his wife. I have never loaded anything under 1oz so I'm not sure what powders to components to start with.
I do know we will be using cheditte primers but other then that we have available most brands of hulls and he will buy what ever powder and wads we need.
So lets hear what your loading.

    Thanks
    Lee

Lee, I've never used Cheddite primers, but here are some of my best performing light 7/8oz loads.

All are using STS hulls (or gun Club) and STS209 primers. Recoil calculated using the Hodgdon formula with a 9.375 lb gun.

    Fed 12S0 wad: 15.5gr e3 for 1200fps @ 8015 (Alliant), 11.31fp recoil.

17 gr e3, 1250 fps, 7575psi, 12.41 fp. Both of these are superb patterning loads. The psi readings are correct. the 15.5 gr of powder do not lift the 12S0 wad high enough to keep it from pressing into the curvature of the base wad. However, the 1200fps load smashes targets and feels like a puff of wind on your shoulder.

17 gr e3 and Rem TGT-12 wad, 1250 fps, 7820 psi, Alliant, 11.90 fp. Slightly dished crimp if you don't adjust your starter and crimping dies.
