My wife and I love French Onion Soup. My wife is looking for a good French Onion Soup recipe. Would appreciate it if anyone had a good recipe that they would share. We are particularly interested in the ingredients that are added in smaller amounts that give it a good distinctive flavor (such as thyme, bay leaves, garlic, etc.) and the type of onions that are recommended for a good flavor. Do you use homemade beef stock, canned beef stock, or the dried beef broth pieces? Also, what type of wine/sherry/etc. do you put in soup?

    Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I found David's recipe AFTER I had started this thread. Should have searched first.

    Again, thanks.
