The junior division was today for the Nebraska High School Trap Shoot. They shot 100 targets from the 16 and I would like everyone to know I thought the 3 man squad fron Gibbon did a great job for their first time there. Logan had a 94 Tanner (my son) had a 93 and Jordan had a 82. They all shot I believe their best scores ever. The high score of 98 won it and a 95 was in a shoot off for the top ten. They all have alot to look forward to.

    GREAT JOB KIDS!!

I will post the winners names on Friday. Yes they did have a good turn out. I did hear about 101 squads (not 5 in all of them) and they are expecting 208 on Friday's senior division. The weather was not real good either with a steady mist all day.

I made it to this shoot in,, I think 2001, Best bunch of well behaved young floks you could ever ask for. It was a pleasure to meet them! Just hasn't worked out for me to get back,, much to my regret. That yr was 1200 kids.

    Maybe next yr??? Paul

This is an amazing event!!! I was there observing the shoot on Saturday and it was like a well behaved carnival. It was reported that there were between 1700 - 1800 participants. These kids have been well trained and are truly safety conscious. A salute goes out to all the coaches and contributors who give of their money and time to assist these young shooters. Game wardens from across the state are instrumental in running the shoot and it went without a hitch other than the wind and drizzle.

Here is the link for the
    junior high
shooters. I worked all three days and the weather couldn't dampen the
spirit of these kids. At one time the rain was horizontal and they kept
shooting. Nebraska Game and Parks runs a great event and with all the help
from parents and coaches we were even ahead of schedule most of the time.
At one time I was trying to score but was being blown out of the chair.
The kids never slowed down but kept right on shooting. I coach in the
metro Omaha area. It is great to see all of our friends from the smaller
communities come with their teams and sometimes.... they kick our butts.
Colleges recruit Nebraska trapshooters with scholarships every year. Top
quality vendors show up as you have near 2000 total shooters at this event and
some parents bring their guns to get them tuned up. Congratulations to all
the shooters... yes, even the ones from Kansas and Colorado.
