Sequester Cuts: Navy to Ground Blue Angels

Navy brass in a snit over budget cut the brass will try to make the cuts where they are most public and cause the most annoyance to the public. But the admirals will keep their admirals barges (private yachts). They never cut the fat, just annoy the taxpayers. Disgraceful.

Pentagon to cut aircraft carrier presence in Persian Gulf to 1 due to budget strains

The brass will try to make the cuts where they are most public and cause the most annoyance to the public. But the admirals will keep their admirals barges (private yachts). They never cut the fat, they go right to the muscle. They'll cry "See what you made me do." Disgraceful. Give up your yacht.

Well. Do you expect obama to give up AF1 and his gaudy life style?

This sequester business was the brain child of obama. To get cuts in social programs, the GOP agreed to cuts in defense, now the Libs are wanting to crawfish on the deal.

If anybody were honest about it, there are no cuts anywhere, just a reduction in the increases that would normally occur. The costs will continue to increase, just at a slower rate. boo hoo hoo.

More to come no matter what happens over the budget in the next few months, as the spending will continue as long as the US can borrow money.

Why not cut the federal budget by 10% across the board--I mean EVERYTHING and just deal with it.

10% isn't going to have that drastic of an effect on any program, yet would result in a pretty big step toward fixing the ledger.

I get a kick out of watching the Blue Angels when they come to the Fallon NAS. But that little bit of entertainment costs the tax payers a lot of money. If we gotta cut the spending it would be better to cut the show planes and keep the ones that are in active combat roles. That's the bummer about cutting spending - something has to go or in our case a lot of somethings have to go.

Obumer's Air Farce One cost the tax payers $2.6 Billion dollars. That is money that could have been spent of the poor people.

I have enjoyed seeing and watching the "Blue Angels" many times over the years ... They serve no purpose other than entertainment at great cost to the tax payers ... I hate to see them cut but its better then cutting something that really matters ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Just to set the record straight here, they are not grounding the Blue Angels entirely, just cutting back on some shows. So they're still around.

The Air Force Thunderbirds cut back a couple of years ago if memory serves. If you think back, how many times did the schools threaten to cut back on the crossing guards as the first step when there was a money crunch. Ron

How will the USA ever survive the Blue Angels being grounded ??????????

    OMG..............

Yea, they are cool to watch, but c'mon folks. No different than food stamps - just a different audience / consumer.

I say (extreme - R U READY FOR IT????) get rid of anything that isn't SPECIFICALLY authorized in the Constitution.

    We'll survive.

"Why not cut the federal budget by 10% across the board--I mean EVERYTHING and just deal with it"

Well, that has a lot of appeal until......

You consider the ~50% of the budget if for Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and interest on the debt. Which of those are you going to cut 10%?

Then do you cut the budget 10% for those agencies the actually generate net revenue, e.g. IRS?

Blue Angels are more than entertainment, they are a marketing and recruiting tool. If you don't want to get people to enlist then cut back on your marketing efforts...

If the Blue Angels are in fact a Marketing tool, please tell us (me) how many that enlist after seeing the performances could or would qualify for training as a Blue Angel let alone end up being one ..? WPT ... (YAC) ...

Just freeze any increases in base line budgeting. This game is one of the oldest, but still few people know about it. The government puts in increases that are automatic, but not tied to increases in cost.

Also there are programs on the books written decades ago that can be scrapped.

Read about it in the above link provided.
