Not a good idea to have a national lottery .The bean counters say they will put the money raised in education. Lets say for for a sake of an argument the school budget is $1,000,000. The bean counters say we will put $ 1,000,000 of the money raised from the lottery in to that school budget , that makes $2,000,000 right wrong the budget will stay the same and the newly raised will go to the general fund . Not one extra buck for education. Then it gets worse the money collected from the lottery gets passed out to the schools. Interesting things happens then. The majority of the lottery money is generated in the poor sections of the city (dollar and a dream right) you would think passing it out to the schools where it was generated would be the right thing to do ,but it's the rich districts that get most of the cash. Just the working class getting it in the butt again. Just a way of law makers to get their hands on more to the out of control spending.

The Power Ball lottery like any other lottery is just a self imposed tax on the ignorant folks who throw their money into it. How big a tax depends on how much they want to lose.

Given the fact that most lottery ticket buyers are liberal loser (I know that's redundant) Obama voters, I'm all for lotteries, the more the better. Let them fund a little of their welfare.

The state lottery here was designed to provide funds for education. After a number of years people began to wonder why the demand for more money for education seemed the same as before. As one legislator explained it, "The state lottery provides the state education fund with $600,000,000 per year. Unfortunately the state education budget per year is 13,000,000,000." No wonder my property taxes are 75% alloted for the local school district.
