Now that the big boys (and girls) are done shooting in Beijing it is time to turn our eye to the future.

Next Sunday marks the 1st day of competition for the National Junior Olympics to be held August 23-28 in Colorado Springs.

166 of the best and brightest junior shooters have been invited to compete in international trap, double trap and skeet.

The invitees earned their spot either by competing at the National Championships in July or by winning their State Qualifying match (held earlier this year) or shooting an automatic invitation score (100/125).

Both the womens and mens fields contain incredibly talented shooters in all disciplines.

If you want to see what it takes to be succeessful in bunker, double trap and international skeet then take a peek at these kids. Should be quite a show.

If one of these kids is a member of your club - give him/her a pat on the back, offer an encouraging word and wish them well at JO's. You never know, one of them could be the next Vinnie Hancock or Kim Rhode or Walton Eller.

I know my son and I are dropping $1500 +/- into this event. Multiply that by 166 kids and that is $250,000 approx. Give or take a few hundred either way for airfare/hotel/rental and # of days stay.

When you stack it all in one place that is a bunch of money to support the dreams and hopes of our youth.
