Single barrel final is where it's at!. A 23 in windy conditions with an Olympian breathing down your neck is a terrific performance. Skill under pressure - you could not ask for more. Very well done.

I was watching the mens junior while the Womens final was taking place. Then I went over to field 3 to watch the mens open final and saw another fantastic single barrel performance from Jacob Turner and Colin Weitfeldt who went into the final in 4th and 5th place and jumped up to 2nd and 3rd with strong performances. The guys they leapfrogged are no chumps either - Bade and Hadden are experienced and accomplished shooters in world competition. It was gripping stuff.

I too have shot with Rachel, Kelsey, and Kayle. Incredibly disciplined and accomplished shooters.

    Congratulations.

Great job to all. The wind really kicked up just before finals started and had to make life interesting for them. I didn't see it mentioned, but John Mullins put on a show. He dropped only 4 targets over 4 days of shooting and ran his last 150. There was an audible gasp in the crowd when he dropped his first target in the finals. It was a great event, can't wait for Kerrville!

    Hal ---

You are correct. I did want to mention John Mullins unbelievable performance....

    23 - 25 - 25 - 23...... (96)

and then: 25 - 25 - 25 - 25 - 25 - 25..... 150 consecutive straight targets over three days in the rain, wind, cloud cover and HEAT. I was priviledged to flank for three of those perfect rounds and had a birds eye view. I am still shaking my head in disbelief. NEVER have I seen a more gutsy shooting performance.

He is the National Champion for the 2nd straight year. I hope is is our 2012 London Olympic's trap representative.
