Earlier tonight the Naperville Sportsman's Club, located in Naperville, Illinois held our club Handicap championship. This event is the highlight of the shooting calendar for club members. There are many people in the club who work hard to make this a great event, and tonight's event was no exception.

The format of the event is 100 handicap targets, 25 each from 21-23-25-27 yards. A trophy is awarded for the HOA for the entire event, and there is a winner and runner-up for each yardage. This year the trohpies were custom poker sets.

In addition to the shooting we provide food for all the club members. This year's grub included fresh, handmade brats from the local market and fried perch provided by one of the club members.

The weather cooperated so we had good conditions the entire night.

Mike Moore took home the HOA trophy and gets handicap bragging rights for the next year.

The yardage trophy winners were Bob Pfister, Tom Coleman, Scott Calhoun, and Steve Pfister.

The yardage runner-up trophies were won by Joe Krol, John Tevogt, Wayne Willson, and Charlie Tlapa.

They are all a great looking group except for that one guy in the white flyer cap. Is that sand that seems to be leaking out of his pants??

This is a great example of a club and shooters having fun and enjoying the sport. Congratulations to all.

The cleaning lady swept up any sand. The perch was phenominal. Bob Ash runs a great event! Thanks to Bob and everybody.

Forgot to mention a couple of things . . .

For those that don't know, at Naperville we are required to use steel ammunition and bio targets. I know some people have said they would rather quit shooting than shoot steel, but we still manage to have a great time with steel and bio's.

The trophies were provided by Rocky Mountain Award and Trophy (www.rmawardandtrophy.com). They do a great job and offer a very nice selection of trophies for very reasonable prices. Kim Norton is our contact (ordering@rmawardandtrophy.com) and has always done a great job with our trophies.
