Thursday night (6/12) was the annual Naperville (IL) Sportsman's Club annual club handicap challenge, the third leg of our Sportsman's Slam series of events (think golf Grand Slam adapted for trap). It is a one night event featuring four 25-target handicap sub-events, 21, 23, 25, and 27 yards. We awarded a club champion (HOA) and winner and runner-up for each yardage event.

The club provided Tilden buckles as prizes, and all shooters enjoyed a cookout of fresh brats and polish sausages. Each shooter also received a Snap-on brand flashlight and folding-knife gift set for particpating. Club member Bob Ash organizes the event each year and it's bigger and better every year. This year Bob finally was able to concentrate on shooting for long enough to win a trophy.

First picture is of the HOA and Yardage Winners. Mike Moore took the 21-yard event, Jay Spitz (spitter) the 23-yard trophy, Charlie Tlapa was HOA, Brian Corcoran won the 25-yard event, and Bob Ash won the 27-yard event.

Second photo is of the runner-up winners for each yardage. Aaron Harriman, 21 yards; Jim Monk, 27 yards; Scott Calhoun, 25 yards; Don Hiltz, 23 yards.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, the battery on the good camera was dead so we resorted to a cellphone camera.

I'm surprised that the lense didn't shatter along with the batteries melting.

If we were a band, they could call us "Motley Crew"... sorry name taken!

Scott kept us honest and did a great job tallying up all the scores and figuring out what went where and who won what. Thanks!

Kudos to Ash, while I enjoy our leagues and turkey shoot, the handicap challenge is by far my favorite Club event.

    Thanks Bob!
