Have a 12 ga single shot, break open exposed hammer gun. Opens by way of thumb lever mounted on left side, the entire trigger guard is part of opening lever. I have never seen anything like it-looks old. I am not sure what it is or what it's worth. I have pic's but don't know how to post here as they are in my inbox email folder. Send me an email and I'll forward pic's. Remove the x's in address.
Thanks for posting pic's. I might ad this gun has no name on it anywhere. I took stock off and looked there also-nothing.Barrel is 32" long. What is it ?
Crab, I'm going to wager that's an Indian/Pakistani/Afgani gun - maybe Australian?. Greek/Turkish? I doubt it is all that old. 20th century, probably post-WW1?
The design seems to be British - a 'keepers' gun. Various Birmingham makers produced thousands of simple, reliable single-barrels for local use & for 'colonial' export, and they were knocked-off, however that is the first side-action one I have seen, although it is a simple, robust, no-grief action.
My vote goes to "Nellie"... I have a Husky underlever that looks like this but has 2 barrels..SxS..and side hammers.. 34" extra full.. both barrels.. and 2.5" chambers.. Actually shoots quite well.. The receiver design reminds me of a few French underlever guns I've seen.. but probably this is a Belgium gun made for export.. I'd look for marks under the barrel.. on the mono-block..Something should be there..
Crab, this must be an Obama. It's lean and good looking, but it has no history or proof of where it's from. As far as its value, I'll give you $780 million dollars for it, but first I have to fire up the printing press, okay?
Thanks Vern, as of now you're still high man with that bid ! Anyone else ?
