I posted a thread of my son Riley's first Rooster Earlier this month but didn't have a picture until now....He took the bird down with his H&R Topper with Super X 3inch #5's....Nailed it right in the head...Damn I'm so proud of him! This was taken at the Seneca Hunt Club in Seneca IL ealier this month...

I forgot to mention that it was taken with a .410 no less so there was little room for error!

Did he get the bird in flight? Hope so because that will turn him into a lifelong clay target killer.

Absolutely! Ground shooting is a no no! I had him out to the range a couple weeks earlier and he was crushing the clay targets so I knew it would be just a matter of time before he downed a bird!

When I first read the opening post I wondered "What kind of idiot allows a young boy to shoot 3" shells?" Then I see it was a 410.

Great job by both of you.

Your boy will NEVER forget his first bird.

Glad you were able to share that memory with him...something you'll both never forget as the present becomes the good ol' days....I hope he sticks to it and weekly trap club nights never leave his calender
